Anyone else have friends that "hate" on them for being in college?

They say that they will make between 120-150k during my college career. Then when I get out I will be making about what they make. I just tell them to look at the statistics. The average college grad earns a million more than someone with a hs degree. They say that doesn't apply in Louisiana because of the money you can make in the plants. Just wondering if anyone else hears crap about getting an education.

No. The overwhelming majority of my friends have college degrees.

All of my friends in high school went to college, so no.

they could possibly earn as much as you without going to school, but they wont be working in the air conditioning. Also all the fine women are in college.

Only in The South will you hear that, good lord.

They're right. My friends who are operators have been makeing 50-70k/year since they graduated high school. My oil field trash friends are making far more than that. One guy who graduated the year before me now makes around 300 grand offshore with just a high school diploma.

They also will have to work with their hands and their bodies will be falling apart by the time they're 50.

Just hate on those in law school.
They'll make half of what non-lawyers make. I read somewhere where law grads earn $1 million less than those without a law degree.

If you're in college, most of your friends should also be in college.

All of my friends went to college and were in either fraternities or sororities.
Is Southeastern even an accredited university?

Yes it is. It's primarily a teachers' college, but they also do business, music, and some other programs. Their school of music is pretty good, Bill Evans (famous Jazz Pianist) went there.

I did, and the fact is, initially they are right....you could go to work in the oilfield or in construction and make some pretty damn good money (and get a several year head start on your career)....
however, as long as you get a worthwhile degree, the difference is in how fast you move up through the ranks and also where you will top out...
the problem-solving abilities coupled with the communication skills that you gain in college give you one hell of an advantage over a lot of other folks in the organization and unless you have some kind of fricked up personality, you can jump over lots of folks fairly quickly...

It was a joke. From what I've heard, both the nursing and education programs are great.

They only thing at Southeastern that's worth a damn is their teaching and nursing degrees. Everything else is shite, especially their college of business.

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Michael Dell all agree.

Are your friends on the bottom of the totem pole in the oil industry?
