I kinda blame the bat makers.
If the composites wouldn't have been invented I'll bet no changes would have been made. (IMO)
The bat companies knew after break in those bats would hit like '90's bats.
Also I have to agree a bit on the player safety side.
The composites and the late 90's bats were too powerful for safety's sake, and also gave too much advantage to the hitters.
I like power hitting, but not everyone is a power hitter.
And super bats shouldnt be able to transform someone into one.
If I had my way, I say switch to the aluminum used in the 2000's AND use the flat seem ball.

Games are soooook boring now. Why do people always try to turn the college game into what the pros play. They're doing it in basketball as well. Fouls are called constantly trying to help scoring. Next thing you know players will be allowed to take four steps to the basket like Lebron does every night. Oh wait remember the Kentucky game? Baseball is no different. The pros are all about pitching now that the steroid era is over so college is trying to make it all about pitching as well. A kid throwing mid t80's with an average curve should not dominate but they are. It sucks we can no longer watch the Larson's of the world jack home runs. I mean what are the more memorable games for you? The 2009 World Series or all the others??

BRING BACK THE 2009 BATS!
I have said this multiple times on this board the 2008/2009 era was a perfect mix for College Baseball. I am still not sure why they changed it because I love baseball and find the college game hard to watch now.

I'd pretty much rather them use wood bats since yes, that's what they'll use at the next level given the opportunity.
The reality is, giving some dudes in college baseball an aluminum bat is f'n crazy! Hell, when I played HS ball in Florida more than 20 years ago, there were kids in HS where frankly, the pitcher was taking his life into his own hands.
Sure, for many college hitters, the aluminum bat is fine. But, if they are going to change, this middling bat is for the birds.

There are 2 different methods to be within the new standards. One made the barrel thicker to slow down the exit speed, which still gives the bat a sweet spot. The other way is to put a ring inside the barrel to slow down the exit speed, which takes the sweet spot away. The numbers are different between the 2 bats. Now the difference in bats should not completely change the offensive production, but you will see more home runs with the first.

Let's see, played you at home and won. Played Tulane in NOLA and won. Played SEC Alabama and took 2 of 3. Haven't played an Ivey leaguer yet, how was that for you? Oh... Southern Miss sweep... Coffee is great today!

the new bats are killing college baseball only when LSU is losing. Other times they are ok.

Look, I hate these new bats as much as anybody, but it's the overreaction to the change that has really affected the game.
A lot of what the OP is saying is what I'm talking about...
1. Hitters scared to go to college because they are scared to have their weaknesses exposed with these bats.
2. Pitchers can hide their weaknesses in college.
3. Coaches recruiting small ball players. I've heard all the talk that small ball, pitching, and defense wins in Omaha and I agree with that to an extent. However, you don't have to hitting completely.
4. I'm sure I'll get some flack for this but I compare LSU to a team like ULL, who is hitting the hell out of the ball and they have baseballs clearing the fences. Yes, they play in a crap conference, and I am far from a Cajun fan...but those guys can hit hard, proving that the bats are not affecting their numbers.
I hope something changes, but this is the hand we have been dealt by the NCAA.
Oh, and Fire Javi

Look how many hitters go pro out of high school just because they don't want to waste a couple years using a bat they will never use again. They mine as well jump straight into a wooden bat and start practicing now.
Since this the bulk of the second point of your argument, maybe you should be arguing for college baseball to start using wood bats.
Good hitting is good hitting.

I've been wanting this for a long time, but probably won't happen any time soon.

There was some serious talk last year about MLB proving some funding for it. Don't think I really went anywhere though.

From a business side, I don't see why the MLB would want to help fund college programs with the existence of minor league programs. I don't know how much it would benefit a major league organization to help keep kids in college and try and turn them away from the draft out of HS.

You have reasonable points until you get to this:
You are being way over dramatic with this. Pros use the exact same ball and can still throw a curveball and a slider. It isn't taking away anything. The rest of your post talks about being a baseball purist, yet you want the pitchers to be able to throw more drastic breaking balls because of higher seams? How can going to the ball that they will be using at the next level be a bad thing? Maybe this will help pitchers be more ready for the next level and don't say you don't care about that because some of your points are solely based on draft position for hitters. The pitchers need to learn to put tighter spin on the ball instead of flipping some loopy breaking ball up there that moves because of the seams.
I also don't see how can you sit there complaining about the lack of offense in college baseball and how it takes away the strategy and excitement of baseball and a change is being made to help bring some of the offense back and you are complaining about that. That makes absolutely no sense.

Using your logic...
The odds of you getting hurt bad enough in a car accident without seat belts to put you in a wheel chair are super small. Most people who get into an accident are back to work within a year. Hence: Let's no longer put seat belts or airbags in cars.

Yeah, they scored 4 runs on us. But, you gotta admit, it was just 5 innings. They also had two on with no outs when the game was called. I think they lead the nation in home runs last year.

Wow, that is a horrible analogy. Do you let your kids play outside? Traffic fatalities, as both pedestrians and passengers, are the number one cause of death for children 2-14 years of age. Please dont ever let your children outside again.
My guess is you are in favor of removing the kickoff and extra point from football right?

In the grand scheme of things, I don't know that it would have a huge impact on MLB. They certainly wouldn't do something that would be detrimental to themselves financially.
It would really just be a better tool for evaluation. If college hitters were using wood bats, there wouldn't be any question if a player's skill set was the result of extra live bats.
But ultimately it was MLB's proposal so they must see it as beneficial.
