With Turkey being a NATO member, this could get ugly fast if Syria and Turkey start a more active campaign against one another.

Turkey shot down a helicopter a few months ago. Syria wants nothing to do with dicking with Turkey. Turkish Air Force would make short order of the Syrian Antique MIGs.

Note to Syria: don't cross Turkey's redline.

Shouldn't have flown into their airspace. Nothing will come of this..Syria doesn't have the power to take on Turkey, and any support from NATO they would get

I think the Turks hold the US and EU in extremely low esteem, and their response to Russia in Ukraine has proven those assumptions, (they don't want to screw with the Russians either yet). They probably see an opportunity to do more in Syria with Russia occupied. The real question is, can Russia chew gum and walk at the same time ie: support Syria and consolidate/expand into Ukraine. Where is most of the Black Sea fleet now, in the Eastern Med or Black Sea?
