13 Bands that destroyed their legacy

Solid list with a reasoned case made against each band. Don't want to spoil the surprise by listing all 13. Anywho:
It's a long way to the top and a miserable tumble to rock bottom. Loathe a good band lately? You probably have your reasons. We’ve all been there; it’s a universal feeling. The way we dust off our record collection, thinking back to a place in history when “things were oh so different.” Sometimes we experience post-nostalgic depression, no thanks to a shot of reality that confirms how far the band’s out from their glory days. And it’s once we make those realizations that we forever acknowledge the malaise that lingers over said artist, band, album, song, etc. We could think of at least a crate full, but we narrowed it down to, oh, a baker’s dozen.
Prepare to scoff. Now.

Before opening link I said immediately; GnR and Inxs.
I have to disagree with Queen and Aerosmith.

I was kind of indifferent to Queen. Thought they nailed Aerosmith.

The beach boys and the grateful dead dont belong on this list at all imo.

I expected INXS before I clicked on the link. It still baffles me that they did that show.

the grateful dead & queen SO don't belong on that list, and their legacies are fully intact. since garcia & freddie died, the remaining members of both bands didn't (and aren't) try to fool people into seeing something that wasn't. maybe if they continued on as "grateful dead" and "queen", that'd be one thing, but they've clearly promoted themselves as different entities after losing their key bandmembers.
i'd argue that for the last decade or so, kiss has absolutely napalmed their legacy by dressing two scabs as founding members of the band, but then i have to remind myself that they destroyed their legacy plenty of times before that already....

Weezer should be number one. What a waste.

Yeah...touring as Queen w/ Paul Rodgers (in really small font) should be filed under a "shitty thing to do", but it can't hurt the legacy Mercury left behind.

Aerosmith
...now that's a band who put their legacy in a dumpster and torched it.

good list
My favorite is occasionally you'll see some former headlining name act playing second rate bars or state fairs. The case usually is that it is just a couple of original members hanging on to the name. Sometimes it's without the lead singer or chief songwriter. The worst I saw was Foghat at a state fair. They were touring with only the original drummer.
Another thread is all these over the hill bands still trudging out there when they obviously have lost the singing pipes or emotion for performing. Sometimes i think peeps must think "What did they see in them?" Like ZZ, the Who, Ozzie, McCartney, the Stones, etc. I tell folks they were good at one time.

the grateful dead one is a stretch but queen attempting to use the name queen and have a different singer is pretty legacy destroying just because freddie mercury was arguably the greatest frontman of all time.

Seems like the author read the deads Wikipedia page and wrote that

I would certainly have Skynyrd on the list. One could argue Chicago as well.

how is van halen not on this list? the band's inner turmoil has completely overridden the music they created.

I don't see Pearl Jam on that list

not sure about the list ... the downfall isn't based on music in most of those ... "queen" sure as hell doesn't belong on the list ...
