PMAC bid for NCAA men's tourney?

- There are smaller arenas used currently for 2nd and 3rd rounds
- There are smaller metro areas in less populated areas hosting.
I say LSU needs to put in a bid.

Spokane is the only place that's small but their arena is waaaaaaaaaaaay nicer.

Probably not likely. The rule for Men's is that the host school isn't allowed to play at that site (unless of course it's the final four).
Being that there aren't many basketball schools in our area that would sell out the pmac, we would probably lose a lot of money on it.

As long as an SEC team, a Texas team, and other Midwest team is there...it'll sell out.

won't happen with the SKC just down the road in NOLA. BR needs the loop before the NCAA would come to town.

I don't think it would sell out without LSU playing in it, which obviously can't happen.
I went to the regional finals in the New Orleans arena a few years ago. The teams were Butler, Wisconsin, BYU (with Fredette) and Florida. The lower seating was fairly full, but there might've been a few hundred people scattered in the upper decks. I'd guess attendance was somewhere around 9,000-10,000 at most.

I'd say Nola arena has a better shot, do they play other opening round games at on campus facilities?

San Diego is on SDSU campus, UT Austin has hosted and PNC Arena is next to NC State's west campus.

If BR can get the Miss America pageants, why not a first or second round in the NCAA?

Don't you have to buy a book of tickets for the entire regional when you buy tickets to these? That would explain empty seats at games but it could have still been a sellout

Back in the good ole days the pmac did
LSU beat Purdue and Memphis state

That was a really unfortunate draw for New Orleans. Florida fans don't travel, Butler has a small fanbase, BYU is far away and their fans wouldn't travel for basketball. Wisconsin has good football fans but I'm not sure how they travel for basketball. All together it was a recipe for a small regional crowd.

LSU 1986 is the reason that rule was put in place.

You're better off having the nearest city with a big arena host the opening rounds. You dont want ncaa tournament games at your home arena. If lsu were a high seed and nola was hosting 2nd and 3rd round games, lsu would likely go there. If lsu were a high seed and the pmac hosted, lsu would have to travel. Seems like that situation happened to syracuse before because the carrier dome was hosting games.

probably not because of woeful lack of cab service.
