I bought Macafee a year ago for $49.99 a year. So I get an email this week saying that they renewed it with the card on file, for $79.99. WTF? They didn't even ask my permission. Can they do that?

yes. auto renewal is in the contract. you have to cancel before hand. they likely sent an email before they charged you.

A good AV program will not phase modern processors one bit.

sonofabitch. I don't remember getting that email. Hell, they probably sent that one to my spam. But I can't believe they jacked the price up like that on me.

I just use MSSE and MalwareBytes. Occasionally, I'll run Spybot Search&Destroy. Been using the combination for the 5 years I've had this laptop and haven't had a problem yet.
