ETA: why did the grass die? Foot traffic standing water?

My back yard has bare spots from the dogs where I can literally see dirt. I've also got dead patches, about 1 foot in diameter, scattered around the yard (apparently, dog urine causes this).

Can you recommend a product, or products, that will take care of this issue? I've looked around at various websites (Scott's, Vigoro), but there are a variety of fertilizers, and I'm just not familiar with all of the vocabulary. Hoping for something simple and effective. TIA.

What type of grass?

You're in for constant maintenance with pet urine. Just one of those things you'll constantly fight uphill against

Did you copy and paste from the OT thread?

Train the dogs to go in a corner of the lot.

I'm in the same boat in the strip of grass by my pool that the dog runs. Its pretty much just a mud path.

I bought some more centipede seed today and plan on laying it out tomorrow but I'm skeptic since besides putting up a plastic fence there no way to stop the dog from running that path.

Also redoing the landscaping in my front yard, bought about $200 worth of retaining wall stones today. I told the ol lady to spray it all with weed/grass killer for a few days first but she never listens.
