Saints should draft Mettenberger

I know this may sound like I'm only saying this because he played at LSU, but I really think the Saints should draft Zach Mettenberger if he's available third round and after. I definitely think the first two rounds picks should be O-Line/defense. I think Mett has great potential to be a great pro QB, and to learn as Drew Brees' understudy would take him even further. What do y'all think?

I'd rather spend the pick on a WR or CB or OL. Drew has probably 3-5 good years left. We can draft a QB in a year or two.

I think Mett will make a decent pro - he has all of the physical tools outside of needing better footwork and pocket mobility. But I don't see the Saints using a pick on him unless he falls pretty far (4th or 5th?)

Draft a qb in 3-4 years imo

Granted the people who hate on anyone who suggest drafting an LSU player are dumb, the only player who would fit a need for the Saints is Beckham.

Hell no. Doesn't fit our system, IMO

I'm sure if a QB has a high enough grade on him to outweigh all the other positions it's possible(in general), but the Saints are not going to go out of their way to get one.

I like Landry out of the two. I'm not opposed to getting LSU players but a qb right now is a waste imo.

I'm sure there will be plenty of great quarterbacks in the draft 3 years from now

You can't be serious. First off, Odell and Jarvis both fit. If Jeremy Hill slides to the 3rd I'm taking him and moving Ingram. Trai Turner could be a great 5th round pick for depth and to take over for Grubbs in 2015. Mett in the 4th is great value and would provide good depth and be a guy who could seriously take over after Drew. On defense Anthony Johnson I think could be a solid mid round pick as a DE for our 3-4.

Draft a QB in a year or two. Now isn't the draft

This has to be a troll..."Draft all the LSU players!!!!"
Both could play in our offense yes, but we have a plethora of possession receivers. The Saints are looking for a dynamic playmaker ala ODB. I love Landry but he'd be a luxury pick when we have holes to fill and fill cheaply.
We have three capable running backs. This ain't happening. No team is going to trade for Ingram and we have too many holes for a luxury pick like this.
Trai Turner is being predicted as a first rounder in some recents mocks. He won't last past the 2nd and the saints have shown a tendency to take o-linemen later in the
Draft from small schools. Also, i think they get a CB and WR in the first two rounds unless some ridiculous value pick presents itself, but that's just personal opinion.
Love Mett, but the Saints are in win now mode with Brees and will use all their resources to build the best team around him they can. Not impossible for them to draft a QB, but he would have to slip and present a "too good to pass up" situation which I don't think this is. And even in that kind of situation, I think they use their position to drop down and get another pick instead.
Anthony Johnson was very disappointing in college. Not quick, can't get off the block, not very strong. He disappeared every chance he was given an opportunity to shine. He's not worth anything more than an UDFA look to me and I hope they stay far away. His high school hype and LSU pedigree are going to get him drafted, not anything he did on the field.

Where have you see Turner going in the 1st? I knew his stock would be rising because he's sort of an unknown, but to the 1st?

Geez, you're worse than the OP.

Mett is one of my favorite LSU players ever.
Griffin is our guy. We've invested in him now and he looked very good last preseason.
He's very similar to mett actually
