Deep South BBQ if you can handle the risk of being shot. Whole Foods if you can't.

Don't know about the rest of their BBQ, but the Whole Foods smoked cheeseburger that they don't sell is to die for.

They do sell them in Metairie and yes it's to die for as in you will choke on that dry arse shite. WF BBQ is better than some people think.

I'm not a WF hater, but...

Actually I am, but that aside, it seems sad to me that a place that doesn't have a smoker out back making real pit BBQ is even in the discussion as one of the best in an area.

I actually enjoy the Carolina sandwich! I mean its pulled pork topped with slaw.

I wish we had a badass b'que joint in BR but we don't.

THe joint in NOLA is legit though!!

The one time I ate at VooDoo (the St Charles location) I was able to choke down a couple bites before my gag reflex was too intense to control. Threw the garbage in the garbage and have never been back. If your'e going to eat BBQ, it needs to be exceptional because BBQ isn't that exciting of a food to begin with.

Good use of hyperbole, R2R

I agree, VooDoo is just flavorless BBQ. I do like the gris gris greens but that's 'bout it. I can think of a LOT of places I'd rather visit for $12 for a meal.

Prices are terrible for food you get
But then again, all these restaurants continue to make it with ridiculous prices nowadays

Sorry but BBQ just isn't South Louisiana's thing. I'll probably get a lot of hate for that, but I've tried it from Hammond to Lake Chuck and everywhere in between and it is simply subpar. There's a lot of GREAT food down here... BBQ just ain't one of them.

actually a fair assessment. I only crave BBQ when I'm traveling to places known for good BBQ

The episode was filmed in Slidell but none of the teams were from here. It was during the Slidell BBQ Challenge.

Paul Kirk has a BBQ school there but big deal.

Bad to the Bone BBQ was really disappointing when I went. Ribs were dry, sides were greasy as frick.

Nah, I think it's pretty obvious there's a lack of good bbq throughout most of Louisiana. Besides that, LA doesn't have its own style of BBQ outside of Jack Miller's sauce and the like.

Good to see a Louisianian agree. Some friends of mine from Lafayette cursed me up and down when I said that before. Told me I had never had real BBQ. Being from TN, I laughed at their dumbasses.

You'd be surprised. I think the state's unbelievable reputation with great food leads to an idea for some people here that everything here is superior to anywhere else. I love the food here and it was part of the original draw for me to come here. But to act like some do about "Louisiana BBQ,"

Almost everything outside of BBQ though, . You SOBs can cook

they putting one up on my interstate exit now. I may go there a few times as an option.

But it has nothing on the NOLA bbq scene. I wish McClures was closer.
