well that's good to hear, thank you for the info
just out of curiosity, why wouldn't you offer a renewal-only class, where renewals could get the required topics covered more quickly?
surely the time required to cover everything could be compressed since everyone has already been thru it at least once before
had i been in your class, and you had me sitting in a plastic chair at baker range for three hours doing nothing, i would have requested a refund. thankfully it sounds like you have a better set-up than that

Any instructor who teaches can do renewals.
Feel free to shoot me an email if you have questions.

A better question might be, "Why would I, or any instructor, want to?"
No offense, but I really don't want anyone in my class who wants to "learn quickly" (or, as I more frequently hear, "just wants a certificate.")
There are some instructors who are sometimes too willing to make this sort of accommodation. They're easy to find on internet forums (not talking about the OB).
My approach is different. And my classes are different. But I'm fortunate that I don't have to rely on income from teaching these classes -- which is good, because my wife spends a lot more $$ every month than I collect teaching classes.
But I'm also sure those other instructors do a lot better job than I do.

well not to belabor the point, but if you taught the class well the first time, which i am certain you do, then 5 years later there really isn't much new to cover
just need to cover the change to the concealed carry laws if any, and the changes to use of force laws, if any. i'm all about "learning" if there is something new to learn. once i learned it the first time, i don't need to learn it again
i certainly didnt learn anything new this past saturday, with the exception of the restaurant/bar carry law change
nome sane?

If you didn't learn something at your last class, either there was something very odd about that class or else you have an eidetic memory. Or both.
I'll make you a deal.
You come take my next class. And if you can truthfully tell me you didn't learn some new, significantly important stuff, you'll get a full refund. Plus I'll give you $100.

All jokes aside, I'm a CCL holder already but would like to take your class. What's the cost?
Posted on 3/6/14 at 3:44 pm to dawg23
it's a deal
see you in 5 years, and thanks!
glad to see someone is taking the class seriously

This gets echoed non stop on here, but you will really enjoy dawg's class. I'll gladly sit through his class again when it's time for my renewal

$85
It's the central component of my get-rich-quick scam.

Nvm, let's just have a range day somewhere

when do you have classes for renewals?

a. I guess I wasn't clear in my earlier post. I don't have "renewal" classes. Everyone attends the entire 9 hour class. "First time" students pay $85, and renewal students pay $65.
b. I only teach this class about once per month -- I rarely have more than one Saturday per month without some other commitment.
c. For further clarification of an overly harsh earlier post (I posted in a hurry, and just now re-read it) -- there are a lot of very good instructors who teach abbreviated renewal classes. None of the "suspect" instructors post (to my knowledge) on this forum.
Many of us quit the "short" classes when LSP asked us to. But a fair number of instructors still teach the shorter course. If you go that route, just make sure you're getting valid course content that you need -- not everybody offers that, especially if they are in a financial bind.
Not too many years ago LSP pulled the credentials of a guy located "west of Baton Rouge" for getting too loose with the content and length of his CCW classes. I don't think it ever happened, but you wouldn't want to be a defendant in a SD shooting, and have to explain why you chose that guy's class.

Nope. Not a deal.
I clearly said you take my next class.

clearly I was joking
I have no intention of either spending another Saturday in class or holding you to your guarantee even if I did
as I said I am glad that you take the time your students spend with you seriously and wish that the instructor I had did the same
