Revis didnt really have a down year. He rated out as the #1 CB in the NFL this past year according to PFF. Only gave up 34 catches all year.

I meant more for his lofty standards he previously set to earn a ridiculous contract. That was his worst statistical year playing 16 games, and his second worst minus the 2 game season.

Both interceptions and deflections were down. Also sounds like his passes given may have been higher(though that's still really good).
And I think that's were PFF breaks down the most is when they're grading players playing zone. Sometimes it's hard to tell who's responsible for who and these are people giving out these grades.

I'd be very happy getting him with a 4th round pick.

Not to mention you know we need a CB, and anyone you get for that kind of value won't be as ready to play as he will be, especially in this system.

You LSU homers are painful. The guy is a virtual idiot, and has zero football IQ.

You anti LSU losers are worse. The guy has first round talent and could potentially be good value. Sorry we're not ready to drop him from the NFL because he's struggled in his first 2 seasons and has a bad wonderlic score.

Is that why Rob Ryan drafted him in the 1st round?

Some people would be dumb enough to bitch about getting PP7.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's Jerry Jones who's drafting players.

Living in DFW, I hear the daily practice reports and Morris is a regular on the list of players who didn't practice because of injuries. I love LSU and I loved what Morris did at LSU but Morris is not worth a 4th round pick at this point. It doesn't matter what defensive scheme a team uses or who the coach is when a guy is sitting on the bench with a hamstring injury.

So, the DC didn't have a say on what defensive player they should draft with the #6 pick?
That's new to me.

In a normal, professionally run organization, probably so. The owner and self appointed GM of this organization does shite like pay Romo a top contract for no damn reason, and completely emasculates his head coach.
Rob Ryan was the scapegoat for Jerry's complete mismanagement. I'm not sure how much say or input he had in the drafting of Claiborne. He certainly didn't handpick him like you implied.

I'm not taking up for Jones. I think his team could be good if he'd step back. Howeve, if you think the DC doesn't have any input in picking a 1st round defensive player then you are absolutely wrong.

Football Outsiders is far superior for these sorts of things. They are much more rigorous in their methodology and have a dedicated game charting team who differentiates between man and zone coverage (among other things). Plus, they use rate statistics instead of the clumsy method of counting up standard deviations (PFF's preferred metric), which paints a much clearer picture.
For DBs they look at Success Rate, Comp %, average yards per pass attempt, average yards per run attempt, etc. It's not an easy "one number tells you what the guy is" because, frankly, one number DOESN'T tell you what a guy is. PFF's main failure is an attempt to over simplify something that is more complex than people realize.

Ok kid.
Bottom line is Ryan knows more about defensive players than I do and way more than you ever will. So, if Ryan and CSP want to send a 4th round pick for Claiborne then I'm all for it.

I'm a man, and I await your apology.

I wouldn't want to use a 3rd. I want us to get another CB or Center in the 3rd. Mid do it for a 4th though.
