Hey nerds: What's the best Tolkien book that isn't LOTR or The Hobbit?

I just finished The Hobbit (for the first time) and Lord of the Rings (for the second time) and have The Silmarillion and The Children of Hurin, but I'm not sure which one to read next.

What say you OT? Which of those two should I read next, or should I go get something else to read by Tolkien?

Thanks

Good chance you won't like his other works which read like an encyclopedia.

Read the Silmarillion and that's pretty much it.

Just skip and start reading Robert Jordan's "Eye of the World" series. It is about 13 900 page books and will keep you busy a while.
