Neutral site stuff is a novelty that has worn off for me and in my opinion is to blame for poor bowl attendance but I think it's here to stay.

It's a money thing, and everyone will continue to do it regardless of whether or not it is good for college football (which I say it isn't).

If you think this Wisconsin deal is bad, you should see my undergrad school, UCF. We were supposed to play Penn St at home in 2014, but we took a huge ESPN paycheck to play the game in Ireland to start the CFB season. Now BYU is our marquee home game.

I like a road trip to start of the season. Plus, playing in Dallas and Houston is pretty big for recruiting.

I have a good group of Tiger fans that have and will continue to travel to these neutral site openers, and we also sit through the Towson type games at home, along with the Auburn and Bama games. We like to travel and we will back our Tigers wherever they play. And it keeps us in front of the national recruits' eyes, so a win-win.

Yep, this is a problem exclusive to LSU. And I really hate the money and exposure it brings to our program. I bet the players hate playing in fancy NFL stadiums against marquee opponents, too

We have a nice stadium....I'd rather watch these games in our house. The school certainly can't be making as much $ at these NS games. It screws up our traditional tailgating and obviously takes away a lot of momentum we get from playing at home.
That said.....Im still gonna go to these games and enjoy the atmosphere.

Herein lies your problem. It's not all about you. The players' desires, recruiting factors and general exposure are all exponentially more important than RedTigerRulz.

You're making the incorrect assumption that I'm the only that feels this way....take a straw poll my friend and see what our fans feel about this? I would be willing to bet most folks would prefer another home game. 10 years ago this wasn't even an issue.

This is part of my point. And I wasn't saying you are the only one who wants these games back to on-campus (I wish every single game was at night and in Tiger Stadium - Ain't happenin'), but was using you as an example of the average individual season ticket holder. Big-time CFB stopped being about the individual fan/ticket holder years and years ago. It's about TV dollars, ad dollars and appeasing said corporations, on top of maximizing exposure and getting the brand out and promoting it. It's sad, but if we want to continue to be relevant, and by relevant, I mean one of the 5-10 best programs in the country, we have to stay with the times.

And more on point, how does playing at a neutral site, a few hundred miles from our home, with a surrounding population that is, probably at best, only marginally interested in coming to the game going to benefit us? Other than recruiting maybe, I see no other positives.
Lsu is a brand name. I hate to think we're having to travel around putting on dog and pony shows to drum up recruits. Home and homes are one thing, but neutral site is horseshite.
Now I'm not gonna deny that playing at lambeau is cool but as one poster earlier said, the novelty has worn off.

They should have at least had the Wisconsin game in New Orleans at the dome.

The trade off is A)Houston recruiting benefit and B) Lambeau Field. Anyone that is upset about a road trip to Lambeau is nuts.

No one is upset about lambeau, but for the average fan this trip is going to be financially impractical. Another example of the admin pricing the average fan out.

It's only one of the most talent-rich areas (if not THE most talent-rich) in the country. We've been having serious battles with A&M for recruits and UT is about to be back on the scene. Recruiting isn't something to downplay, either. It's kinda essential to a program's relevance. And do you really think the surround population doesn't care? Do you have any idea the amount of LSU alums in East Texas? And it's right next to Louisiana.

Yes it is, and we have to continue to push and promote it.

Dog and pony shows? It's a fricking football game, and one that should be highly entertaining. Don't try to make it seem like we're the only team that's doing this or bastardize it by likening it to a circus.

Welcome to the real world. We can always drop the prices, price in the average joe and go back to praying for an Indy Bowl birth.

Couldn't we schedule 2 bcs non conference games? One could become a neutral site, one stays home and home.
Or are we afraid to have a tougher OOC schedule ?

I'll be at lambeau smart azz with better seats than you. That's not the point. Our "average fans" are what have made TS a formidable venue to play in over the years, not the corporate fks who leave early, sit on their hands, and have prostituted this program to the point of no return. Are u too blind to see that?
