I am glad to see our LSU coaches getting more aggressive with recruiting, it seems primarily with Cam's influence. With LSU being the only school with commits for 2017 and now 2018, my thought is to what legal ( NCAA allowed) lengths will schools go now to get an edge with the best athletes no matter their age. I have a young nephew who is a great high school underclassman QB that LSU is already recruiting. I have mixed feelings about whether schools making offers to kids this young (14 year old age )is a good thing for the kids. That's an honor but a lot for young minds to handle. Thoughts?

I believe that if its too much for a kid that age to handle, one phone call from a parent or Coach should be able to stop it.
Just wait until the school two states east of us starts combating the jump we're getting. They already carpet bomb offers to next years Srs, so extending 50or so offers to 8th graders should be expected. They will be the extreme in anything recruiting related.

I don't think schools should be allowed to contact kids until they are 16.

I don't think offering Jr High kids is going to be become the norm, it is just too incredibly risky for the school. There are going to be a few supposed "can't miss" prospects, like Dylan Moses, but it is just too risky to throw out multiple offers that early. If the kid doesn't pan out, the school either has to eat that scholly, or look like an a-hole and tell him that he no longer has the scholly.

Thanks for the reply, but out of respect for him and his mom ( my sister) I would rather not put his name out there.

I used to feel that way.

Junior Golfers now have pro instruction starting as young as 5 years old now. I scoffed and made fun of those parents until I saw what those kids could do on the course in their teenage years.

Things change.

Saban pulled a scholarship ON SIGNING DAY a couple years ago from a kid in Atlanta. Pretty sure he doesn't care if he or his program is viewed as assholes. For the rest of the Schools, you're right, and they probably will act accordingly.

I remember that. I think it was a running back named Justin Taylor. Didn't he wind up signing with Kentucky afterwards?

Yep, he had been committed for a year.

Look at international soccer that signs kids way younger than these programs and some handle the pressure, some don't. I don't think it will be normal to get offers from 7th or 8th graders, but they will start getting talked to around them with Hudl allowing film to be available so easily. I could easily see Fr and So in HS kids starting to get more offers even more regularly than now.

And then put them into their own academy with kids their own age and coach them up. The two don't really compare

Ughh. We offered LF way before any lsu fan even spoke Cameron's name. Why our fans refuse to give Miles credit is unbelievable.
