May God be with you and your family. Your son is now at eternal peace and is no more pain. I will say a prayer for my mom , who I recently lost, to care for your son up in heaven. My heart hurts for you and your family.

I certainly can place blame on Coach O as head coach on this epic failure, but what about Aranda? Highest paid coordinator in college football by a long shot. He needs to step up and earn his damn pay with recruiting also. Doesn't seem to have any passion with recruiting at all. How do you fail with all CB recruits ?

You brought up a great memory from this game. Went with a bunch of LSU buddies to that game and caught a football in the stands after from LSU players tossing them to the LSU section. Still have the football in my collection and will pass it down to my sons. Great game and memory!
re: Am I the only one who gets too emotionally invested?

Nah, you are not the only one. I was trying to forget about this game and get some sleep afterward last night kept thinking about how bad a loss this was. Couldn't help it. My logic is that LSU sports are more than just watching a sporting event. It is the pride that LSU brings to our unique state and our culture. Bottom line is that the outcome of an LSU game on a big stage and on national TV matters so much to us because we love our state, our culture and our people and that is what LSU represents. We'll live to fight another day!

Lunchbox, the real stupid thing is your false sense of worth. You still didn't back up your big mouth and confirm you are going to the Big Bowl game. Guess the Houston Bowl destination is a stupid topic also. Keep pumping sunshine!

There is LUNCHBOX again relegated to trivial arguing rather than address the issues with our program. Are you going to the 'Quality" Bowl Game this year Sunshine?

Choctaw you really are simple a contentions simpleton. You are obviously more interested in trivial arguments than big pictures issues. You must have little relevance in the real world.

I am not here to pick a fight with any fellow LSU fan. My point is you have to be concerned with our SEC losses in the past 3 seasons and again to be out of anything significant before the end of the regular season.

My bad, I miscounted one game. So great, Miles has one less SEC loss than the fired Florida coach since 2012. Let's give him an extension again.
Miles and Muschamp Have Lost the Same # of SEC Games Since 2012 -10

This is a shocking fact to consider. 10 win average seasons are not the real story when you back out the the rent- a- wins. LSU football is at a cross roads with Miles. We need to go in a different direction or we are headed to a perennial middle of the pack program in the SEC.

Vince Lombardi would not agree with this moral victory mindset. There is no substitute for winning, period.
Four Game Body of Work Against Alabama Is The Real Issue
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 11/10/14 at 6:11 pm
I , like many of you , attended the game on Saturday and left with a really painful punch to the gut... again against Alabama. I was also at the miserable NC game in 2012, and every Gump contest since. I don't think our fans' current frustration is so much due to THIS game( where I think we played much better than we realistically expected with no passing game and so many young guys) but the fact that we have extracted no level of revenge against the Gumps since the NC debacle. Same old song. We got our hopes up and should have won the regular season game in 2012, but a last minute defensive letdown. In 2013 we simply got run over. On Saturday ( aside from the passing game woes and officials), with hope finally for a win, another last minute defensive letdown. Our frustration comes from the last 4 game body of work and the same result in varying methods. The deep down angst is the fear that the same results against the Gumps will continue as long as these two coaches and the recruiting landscape remain constant. We ,as LSU fans are eternal optimists, but the 4 game Gump body of work is a tough reality.
re: Is LSU on the Path of Tennessee?
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 10/3/14 at 10:12 am to SpookeyTiger
I am not relying on my concerns just on the MSU loss, but there are projections of us finishing LAST in the SECW. Who in the world would have imagined this 2-3 years ago?
Is LSU on the Path of Tennessee?
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 10/3/14 at 10:03 am
I recall a conversation with an ex Tn. football player last year, who is a football coach and a friend of mine. I asked him what was the real basis of how Tn. fell so hard so quickly. He said the problem was due to what LSU is seeing now-- way too many underclassmen leaving early at key positions. He thought LSU was on the same path. I really like our young guys and there is no doubt they have elite talent, but we do have to find a way to keep the majority of our talent for 4 years. There is no substitute for experience and maturity especially on the D line. Leading the NCAA in early NFL departures may be helping in the short term with recruiting, but is it hurting in the long run?

Same old Miles. What's so maddening is Miles, as expected, said today during the SEC teleconference, that it was not the scheme in the MSU game, but the execution. Miles in his limited mental capacity, really believes that if you run into a brick wall enough, it will give. He really runs a painful offense to watch.

Spring Game in Perspective
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 4/4/14 at 10:02 am
With this Saturday's spring game in mind, it made me think of a dear friend of mine and passionate Tiger fan who passed away a couple of months ago after a long battle with cancer. She will always be known as the "Beamer." She and her family were/are the most passionate Tiger fans out there. She planned her vacations around LSU football and baseball. She stood and screamed at all games until she couldn't speak. I was able to sit near her for years at LSU games and she is the reason I have my season tickets still today. She was an avid motor home tailgator and regularly fed the players and their families. The spring game was so special to her. So today I would like to pay tribute and respect to a special Tiger fan, the Beamer! I know she will be watching this Saturday from above.

I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseam. However, as long as LSU continues to struggle at the plate, be it during the regular season or post season, this discussion will continue. A telling opinion comes from a friend of mine who is the parent of a current player. He said that in his opinion, our players ( his son included) do not get much hitting instruction/strategy after they get to LSU. When you consider players like Bregman, makes you think there is much truth to this. It seems no matter how bad the hitting gets, Mainieri will never let Sanchez go. Too much personal connection.

All great posts. I have enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts. I suspect coaches across the country have to consider all of the above mentioned issues on how to proceed.
LSU QB of the Future
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 3/18/14 at 10:54 am
With the current competition situation and recruiting direction of QBs, are classic pro style QBs a thing of the past with LSU ( at least as long as Miles is here?) It certainly seems so. Thoughts?
re: Former LSU linebacker, Mike Anderson, sues NCAA and Riddell
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 3/6/14 at 5:41 pm to TigersforEver
I read about this suit with the common theme here of distaste. From a legal standpoint, the NCAA and any individual school will be very unlikely to pay a dime to any individual claimant, or the floodgates will open for countless claims and class actions. This could have bankruptcy implications like the old asbestos suit. My thought with any of these suits is do we offset any recovery from such a suit versus the benefits received from playing football at this level, namely school tuition, endorsement money, connections, restaurant fame, NFL/CFL millions etc. Can't have it both ways.

Where is Recruiting Headed
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 2/25/14 at 9:44 am
I am glad to see our LSU coaches getting more aggressive with recruiting, it seems primarily with Cam's influence. With LSU being the only school with commits for 2017 and now 2018, my thought is to what legal ( NCAA allowed) lengths will schools go now to get an edge with the best athletes no matter their age. I have a young nephew who is a great high school underclassman QB that LSU is already recruiting. I have mixed feelings about whether schools making offers to kids this young (14 year old age )is a good thing for the kids. That's an honor but a lot for young minds to handle. Thoughts?
re: Saban Hypocrisy
Posted by LaLSUatheart on 2/21/14 at 3:13 pm to BrerTiger
For you Gump fans and tagalongs of little intelligence who have failed to understand the bigger message of this thread. I will try to make this simple. Saban professes loyalty and commitment but refuses to live by this mantra and put his name on the line to any program, yet he sees fit to require this of his coaches and goes so far as to give the green light to sue them for a relatively small amount. Read the article, Saban refused to waive the claim. I am not making the legal argument and I can assure you that I know more about the law that most of the posters attacking this message. So Gumps if it makes you feel better to dodge the real message, go ahead. Guess that's all you got.

Saban is not so much in my mind, but more like a little pain in the arse. Small, smelly and just won't go away.
