I don't think Landry will make it to us in the second

I wouldn't mind if the Saints went with Kelvin Benjamin in the first.

Kelvin Benjamin then Mike Evans.

If Benjamin was still left after the first 20 picks are gone, I'd definitely try to move up to get him. I'd likely do the same for Evans also.

Benjamin could be Alshon Jeffries in our offense. Brees would have a field day with single coverage on a big rookie WR like that. Assuming Graham is still here to draw the double team.

he won't make it to us but I'd want Mike Evans.

Benjamin might be a possibility at #27 but I'm not counting on it.

I'm all in on getting a guy like Bruce Ellington in the mid rounds though.

I like Ellington. I wouldn't reach for him though. But our offense would fit him well. If he doesn't pan out, then Loomis could bring him over to the Pelicans as a backup guard.

If you're anything like me. I always seem to have that one prospect before every draft that I love, and am convinced they will be a beast regardless of the consensus. Well, Benjamin from Fla St. is that guy for me this year. The fact that he fills one of the most important needs this offseason makes me want him even more.

Last year it was Tyrann for me. Not bc he was LSU either. the year before it was Alshon Jeffery. So you can see why I want Benjamin. Bc my gut the last 2 yrs has made me look like a fricking genius!!!

I think there's a good chance OBJ or Benjamin drops to us. If we passed on either of them it would sting a little for me.

I hear ya.

OBJ would sting for me simply bc he is an LSU stud, and I'd love to keep enjoying his talents as a saint. But I dont think we're that desperate for his skill set, except at kick/punt return. Which isn't enough for the Saints to use a 1st on him. Some other teams he is definitely worth it, but not us IMO.

If we come close to Benjamin and miss out on him..... I will freak the frick.

yeah. I think he could do some work as a slot WR.

he has that acceleration that would rack up yards after the catch.

I'm real bullish on him a lot like I was with Randall Cobb a few years ago.

Sounds good.

IF the saints went in a different direction in say Rounds 1 and 2 then I'd really like to get him in the 3rd. But I'm not even sure if he would last that long.

but I feel a lot better about him being there in the 3rd round then I would about some of the WR's that we've talked about being there for us the in the 1st round (Evans, Benjamin).

I just think OBJ can be an instant playmaker in our offense. I know it's not our biggest need but I would just hate to pass that up.

I'll go even further and say that OBJ is gonna be an immediate playmaker no matter who drafts him. I think OBJ will take the league by storm right away, but Landry will have a longer and more decorated career.

I'm convinced that you'd get over not drafting OBJ real quick if we ended up with a Benjamin or Evans type player. Colston could of had the best year of his career last season with the way defenses focused on beating up Graham. Yeah, he finally came on strong at the end of the season like we've been used too, but just imagine had it been a young version 2007 Colston playing with Graham who is always double and triple covered? Pairing a young large dominant receiver with Graham has me salivating.

Lee wont be there.

I would love to get Verrett or Gilbert, if available.

And we need a big play WR. A guy flying under the radar right now is Martavis Bryant, WR from Clemson. 6'4 211lbs and is supposed to run in the low 4.3s / high 4.2s. And those times are coming from scouts and nfl personnel. College coaches said hes faster than Watkins.

I also think Jordan Matthews is a top 3WR in the draft, but hes dropping some because hes not a combine freak kind of guy. On the field, which is all that matters, hes a stud. 6'3 212lbs with the biggest hands out of all WRs. Hes extremely polished and a complete WR. And, best of all, when the games on the line he wants the ball and goes up and makes plays.

If we go somewhere else, I would like Jarvis Landry in the 2nd round. A lot of people are higher on OBJ. And hes got potential But also is a possible bust. Jarvis has no floor IMO. Best hands in the draft, great route runner and physical. I think he has a better career than OBJ does.

I am a fan of Bruce Ellington in the later rounds as well. Hell of an athlete.

I agree with you about him and I like him too, as one of the more 'unknowns' of the draft but we could probably easily get him in the 3rd if not 4th. I wouldn't waste a 1st on a project player.

If we got two first rounders for JG I would go with
this first round:
OT Lewan Taylor
WR Mike Evans
OG David Yankey
Second round:
C Travis Swanson
