123 tackles in 2012, 125 tackles in 2013 and 144 tackles in 2014. restructure and keep until solid plan in place. common sense absent when the super intelligent loses touch with reality

man had 145 total tackles in 2014, 4th in the entire NFL. 112 straight starts. yet not good enough for the saints. you are all stupid. in the top 3 defensive players on the team. not a smart move.

Should have never played the eagles.
Should have been home field advantage but do YOU remember trying to run the ball for a first down in New England???? Could not get a first down in 3 series???? Lost the game in the last few seconds because of that??? And that was not the only game we lost because the OL sucked like a porn queen.

I guess time will tell. Poor line play kept us out of the playoffs. Poor line play kept us from having home field advantage last year. Drew sacked a record number of times. We have lost a pro-bowl player every year since 09 and replaced them with ...???
Blame the run game on Ingram? What about PT's stats?
Oh yes the defense will be badass. Free agency and draft will ensure that it will be better than last year. The ONLY thing this team does NOT have is a top tier OL. Drew has made them all look good because he has a quick release and he can see the field and multiple receivers like no other person can. That has allowed mediocre linemen to look a lot better than they really are. This has slowly been creeping up on them. I hope and pray they have some hidden gems they will unveil in free agency otherwise I think the OL will be by far the weakest link. Drew took some horrible shots last year and came back like a champ. I still think he played injured at times and hid it very well. How many more hits can he take and keep this up?
I am very disappointed we did not take any OL players in the top 6 picks. Yes I dont know a fraction about the team as the GM and coaches do, but I am not a dumbass either. If we are not playing in Feb 2015 it will be a direct result of a second class OL. if you dont like my post then :doublebird:

re: Who is left

Posted by 1jw1 on 5/10/14 at 8:17 am to
C - Wesley Johnson , Brian Stork
G - David Yankey , Cyril Richardson
T - Antonio Richardson , Cameron Fleming
ILB - Shayne Skov , Lamin Barrow
OLB - Telvin Smith , Chris Smith
DE- Jackson Jeffcoat , Taylor Hart , James Gayle

Some of these DE's could be an OLB.
If I had my choice of any of the above I would go with C-Wesley Johnson for the 4th round pick. He is a freak athlete, can play any line position, smart and super durable.

The risk: The pick isn't a terrible one and Cooks is a good player. But giving up a third-rounder to move up for him is a gamble, especially if you live by the notion that Drew Brees can make any receiver look good.

The reward: Even at his size, Cooks has the ability to become a No. 1 receiver whenever Marques Colston leaves. He's one of the more dynamic players in the draft and is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball.
The grade: C+

This is what we call yapping out of both sides of ya mouth

In my neck of the woods we call it talking out your arse
I have never liked DLP ( despicable line play )
I viewed Johnson as being in a different catergory altogether.
Size, versatility, athletic ability, penalties, sacks allowed, etc.
I wish the draft would hurry up so we can have something to really write about .....
LINK

Very durable. Set Vandy record for games played
Very versatile. Can play any line position
Very athletic and good size
Two holding calls in 4 years
7.5 sacks allowed in 1,281 passing plays
I'll take me some of dat.
I will pay for his first Saints tattoo

With Bush back it makes things (somewhat) more clear.
Not necessarily in exact order as BPA will determine who and when
WR - Sproles Type - Starter
ILB / OLB - Possible starter
WR - /Colston Type - Possible starter
Center - Possible starter/development
Offensive Guard / Tackle - development
Defensive Tackle / Defensive End - development
Corner - development/special teams gunner
Undrafted - all positions
Cant wait for the draft to stop these threads!

re: Safety in early rounds?

Tho the Champ may drop back to a safety role....
I like Brooks out of Florida in the 2nd round
blazing fast and played corner as well
very versatile and athletic player.

re: Safety in early rounds?

Presently 9 CB on the roster and 3 S
I know all 9 are not starters but they can field a starting team with these. Not enough depth at safety especially with Ball just coming into the picture.

Safety in early rounds?

Posted by 1jw1 on 4/6/14 at 8:27 am
No one is talking safety in the draft, especially the early rounds.
If we do not move on Bush I think we will be looking at a safety in the early rounds.
We do not have enough depth without Bush there. I can see a safety before a corner.

re: Saints Re-Sign Joe Morgan

Dont forget we have Andy Tanner on standby. I would love to see him onboard the final 53. He's no speedster but he has very good hands. A good slot receiver and made some good special teams tackles in preseason last year.

re: If It Were Up to You,Who Would You Draft?

If we got two first rounders for JG I would go with
this first round:
OT Lewan Taylor
WR Mike Evans
OG David Yankey
Second round:
C Travis Swanson

re: Jimmy graham reality check

Posted by 1jw1 on 2/20/14 at 2:28 pm to
Jimmy Graham is one of if not the best tight end in the NFL. The issue is the Saints would be better off as a team to trade him. You must see the big picture present and in the future.
I see it as how much overall impact can Jimmy make vs what we could get for him in a trade.
So what would be the best trade for him...
2 first round picks
1 first round pick plus one proven veteran in his mid 20's
Either of the above, plus how much $ will you save on the cap? 6M?
So with that 6M who else could you bring in?
I see it as getting 3 players of top calibre vs 1 Jimmy.
1 first round pick OL
1 first round pick WR
Free agent - for the 6M - Top Cornerback
Saints drafts - BPA
Remainder of cap $ used to retain present free agents and secure reputable backups.
Looking to the present and future I think we would get a better value by trading him.
Hats off to Jimmy he is a top NFL talent.
Pay him what he is worth but not out of Benson's account.I have nothing negative whatsoever to say about Jimmy. Lay out everything on the table and see what will benefit the team the most now and the next several years.

re: Benching Charles Brown

Trust that I have never liked Charles Brown from the get go. We salary cap painted ourself in the corner on the OL. Losing Nicks, Stinchcomb,Goodwin, and Bushrod since 09 and replacing them all with backups ( exception Grubbs ) and hoping these backups could keep the chains moving.
I think the overall picture is what made these 09 guys more valuable than they were actually worth individually. As a unit they gave Bree's just enough time to do what he does best. One of Bree's talents is his ability to see several receivers quickly where most NFL quarterbacks cannot see 4 or more receiver options in a second or less. I don't think Jahri is even worth what we pay him but they did not want to lose them all. I think Evans and Grubbs are starters and this year we were playing with backups in the rest of the OL positions. I think Armstead is a starter and work in progress now. We have to get a new center and RT asap and start them together early on. I think Armstead was given just enough time to develop before they put him in tho he did not have the best of games when he played but you cant expect him to under the circumstances. He also improved a lot from the first game to the second.
They were so worried about the defense coming into this season they focused hard on it and it was a much needed focus. Time to do the same on the other side of the ball. Major youth influx with lots of UDFA OL prospects. If we get a jam up center and RT I would keep Strief as backup and let Brown go. If they cant re-sign Strief with a new stud RT then I suspect they will re-sign Brown as a legitimate backup.
