Netflix and Their Interminable "Loading, Please Wait"

So stop me if you've heard this one before: Comcast sucks. And they do. But I've just about reached the end of my rope. And that rope is Netflix. Watching Netflix through my Sony bluray player on Comcast internet is an untenable situation. And I know I'm not alone because I have friends who have the same issue.
You see, when you watch Netflix there are interminable pauses while the system loads. Happens every time, day or night. So last night I decided to do a little data collection. I cued up a 43 minute & 6 second tv show on Netflix and timed how long the show played vs how long the "loading, please wait" paused the show. I began the show at 9:13pm, primetime on a Tuesday. After "watching" the show for 1 hour, 0 minutes & 47 seconds, I found that 8 minutes & 2 seconds of show time had elapsed, compared to 52 minutes & 43 seconds of "loading" time. Looking at the data you see an average of 21 seconds of watch time before 2 minutes & 29 seconds of loading time.
So today, I open it up for comments: Should I cancel my Netflix account this evening? There are three definite cons: Arrested Development, Orange Is The New Black, and House of Cards. These excellent shows are only available on Netflix, so I’d be giving that up. I recognize that. But I also recognize that Amazon Prime has a better catalog of current tv shows, movies, and I’ve never had the lag time issues that occur with Netflix. Never.
So what's the problem? Comcast, Sony Bluray, or Netflix? Anyone else have these problems? Even better, has anyone else found a solution? Sorry about the rant, here's the kid who loves spiderman to make up for it:

It's Comcast.
They are effing up netflix and their speeds because Netflix is becoming a competitor to their TV offering. The screw your stream, so you'll cancel NF.

Comcast throttling. FYI, I have Comcast and have very little issues streaming.

You'd think if they throttled one they'd throttle the other. Amazon is in the original content game now too, not to the level of netflix, of course.
So I find myself with a few options.
1) Keep Netflix to frick with Comcast
2) Cancel Netflix because I'm not really getting what I want out of it, even though it may not be their fault.
3) Look into another ISP, which probably isn't going to solve much of anything.

I have cox internet and I never have issues with Netflix. In fact, my streams are great quality and hard to tell the difference b/t netflix and my regular directv stations.
just google 'comcast throttling netflix' and you'll find all the info you need. If you have another option, dump comcast.

I heard on a podcast this week some blogger did a test where he was getting about 235 kbps on NetFlix through Comcast, barely enough for low quality streaming, and when he streamed NetFlix through a VPN so Comcast wasn't able to see what he was accessing, he got about 3000 kbps. Definitely Comcast, but it doesn't sound like you can do much other than complain.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding just how much lag you are getting, but it sounds ridiculous. I don't have nearly those problems. I have an initial load and that's it. I have Cox internet. I'd have to say that your problem is Comcast.

Have comcast. Have had Netflix since 2012. Never had this issue.

I'd be ticked if I was buying Cable and Internet and getting stuff like this. That's probably a near $200 bill to them every month.
But of course, Comcast has the right to do this. Bow to them.

I'm computer savy, not enough to do something like this. I wonder if this would help all speeds in general or just Netflix.

If I was in his position and had other options I would cancel Comcast out of spite.

That sounds about what I thought,
Comcast reminds me of the old SNL sketch with Lily Tomlin as the Ma Bell phone operator.
"We're the phone company. We don't care, we don't have to."
And with this Time Warner merger they might as well shut their "customer service" ( ) dept down, they won't have to fix shite anymore...
Oh well, guys, thanks for the help. I've got to say, when you take the throttling experience from the abstract to actually using a stopwatch to time it, it's frustrating as all get out.
ETA: thinking about looking into another ISP, though I don't hold out a ton of hope, the infrastructure around here is pisspoor...
