And its not just replacing 1 of the best players in the NBA, its replacing a guy that has been an ironman and never missed a game. Hes someone that they leaned on and played a lot of minutes, and never getting hurt. Which means bench players arent getting that much PT. Reggie Jackson didnt really play significant minutes until the back end of last year.

Hell, when D-Wade is out the Heat are a diff team.

When you lose 1 of your top 2 players and a top 5 PG in the game, youre going to struggle. No matter who else is on your team. Even more so when you consider how young the Thunder are.

One is a (more than) competent defender, the other isn't.

Says the guy who is trying to argue that his team wasn't "inferior" because they only lost a series in the 7th game

Again with this. Westbrook played 5 straight seasons without missing a single game. They had to learn how to play without him in basically a week. Have you seen what they have done this season after given time to adjust?

Uh, that's the point. Westbrook is an integral part of what Durant does and he struggled without him. It was all the rage to rag Westbrook last season and say he shot too much and was holding Durant back etc etc. Yet, when Durant had to man up against Memphis without him he fell short.

And yes, Durant is playing lights out this season. Reggie Jackson stepped up in a huge way to ease the transition. You could say he had his coming of age moment in the playoffs last season when he was thrust into the fire.

I thin Durant is the 2nd best player in the league. He just hasn't accomplished what guys like LBJ and Howard has as "centerpieces" of their team.

And despite what you say, the Grizz were an inferior team playing on a hot streak last season.

but they took OKC to 7 when okc had Harden! nevermind that harden was in his second year only averaging 12 a game. or that durant and ibaka have improved tremendously since that series

How are you even going to judge KD off of one series?

Yeah.... 31 points, 9 rebs, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block per game is really struggling....

Did his percentages drop? yeah. But thats not just because of Westbrook... he averaged over 45 mins per game without Westbrook in the playoffs last year.

And I wouldnt call the Grizz an inferior team to the Thunder without Westbrook. The Grizz were 1 of the best defensive teams in the league last year with really good on ball defenders like T. Prince and Tony Allen. And had the D.POY in Gasol.

When you really look at it, the Grizz probably were the better team than the Westbrook-less Thunder. The only advantage the Thunder had was KD. Conley > Reggie Jackson. Gasol > Thunder C. Z-Bo > Serge. Prince and Thabo were about even. Tony Allen is 1 of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA.

I dont really see how the Grizz were inferior to the Thunder without Westbrook. Hell that same Grizz team beat the Clippers 4-2 before the OKC series.

OKC didnt lose that series because of KD. They lost that series because KD literally had to do everything on his own. Z-Bo dominated Serge. Conley dominated Reggie Jackson. Gasol dominated OKC C.

They closed the season 27-10. They've won 18 playoff games the last 3 years. Not many teams in the NBA can say the same thing.

Dwight had a significantly better cast that season

And it's not just a "Westbrookless" team, it's when they lost him. It's not that easy to lose a guy like Westbrook mid playoffs and not miss a beat. It's gonna take a few games to get used to playing without him and you can't do that in the playoffs
