New Orleans has made Anthony Morrow available for a draft pick, league source says. Morrow has a $1.15M player option for next season.
To be honest i'd like to keep him
Is this apart of something bigger?

Agreed. Good role player and seems like a good teammate

Sounds like he knows he's making more than $1.15M next year and they are just trying to get what they can.
ETA: I'd also like to keep him, but we can't afford $2.5-3 million locked up in him, which is what I'd estimate he'd get on the open market.

I agree.
His stock has been rising and we should be able to get a 2nd round pick which would benefit both teams

Why did Demps never dump Kaman for a 2nd? Surely Indiana at least offered that. With Demps' history does he really want pick 50+ for Morrow? Does he think he can get pick 25+?

He gone. I'm sure there are a lot of playoff bound teams that will pay $1 mil for someone shooting 48% from the 3 this year.

On a side note, Morrow getting moved for a pick would free up minutes for a certain 21 year old I overly champion on this board.

Hasn't some of Rivers' best ball come playing next to Morrow though?

Yes. Morrow and him work well together so that's a little disappointing. I don't think a Evans/Rivers/Miller/Babbitt lineup would change his options that much though.

We'll take morrow off of your hands for a 2nd rounder.

I know OKC is rumored to be looking for another shooter.
they have 2nd rd picks in 2014 and an extra in 2017

Portland sounds like a no for Asik, but New Orleans trying to figure out a way to get him. The returns on Gordon are not what they want.

Give us Asik and $8M cash and we'll find a way to make it work.

It could just be a late first. I doubt they move him for what would be a late second.

Late firsts aren't really that valuable because you are getting a player who may never amount to anything and attaching a guaranteed contract to him. High seconds are almost more valuable than low firsts because of the contracts.

There is a $3 million limit on Cash Considerations.

quote:Not necessarily. It depends on the team. A late first still has a lot of value in a sale. Also, it is very valuable to playoff teams for Euro stashes.

Firsts also make a cap impression while seconds do not. This can affect teams trying to milk their cap space maximally.
