These people that say zero likely know someone with HIV but don't know they have it. For people who are reliable, it's not hard to control anymore.

Someone I knew from HS died of AIDS, but I didn't find out about it until years later.
ETA: And a cousin was an IV drug user. I don't know how she avoided getting it while she was actively using.

My Dad's best friend contracted it from a blood transfusion. He passed away in the early 90's

Had a gay uncle contract HIV in 2008 and he died in 2012.
Had a gay family friend contract it in the early 1990s and died in 2009.
