We wore black starting in 1999, I distinctly remember us wearing them against Bama in the Super Regionals.
To this day, I blame those unis for us getting destroyed that weekend.

The travel team I played on had exact copies of those unis.

I think you're right. We starting wearing the solid gold mesh jerseys for the '96 postseason. We added piping to the gold jerseys in '97 (the championship '96 jerseys were auctioned off), then we added a purple mesh jersey with piping in '98, then the black mesh jerseys in '99, and a new white jersey in 2000 (won the championship in those too).
