I could be wrong but I thought they were going for 12 one hour episodes. This would allow them to speed up the pacing while still taking place in a 24-hour period.
Anywho, commercials mostly sucked but Jack Bauer is bringing the goods.

It's 12 1 hour long episodes. Each hour will be an hour of real-time action just like it always was. It won't be consecutive hours though. For example, if Jack needs to travel back to the US, they will skip 3-4 hours between episodes and then have a full hour. This will basically cut down on the filler plots and keep the focus on one central story.

They showed several short ones. Usually you just barely heard the little ticking noise that normally shows when the 24 logo shows up at the opening in previous episodes.
The only one that actually showed characters was the last one, that was posted here earlier. At least that I saw.

Would've been nice if the premier and finale were 2 hours, they were usually action packed.
I know they still can since it was always technically 2 episodes but then that's less weeks in the season.
