Roosters Barber Shop does a razor shave to back of neck. This got me looking into it. Which then got me looking at products. It is a revelation. I had no idea it could get better than Nivea and Aveeno shave cream or gel with gillete fusion.
Proraso and Taylor of Olde Bond Street. Sandalwood, Avacodo, and Almond flavor Taylor's. Prepped with cheap badger brush. And now with dollar shave club blades. It has turned the drudgery of shaving into something I actually enjoy.
Have not noticed a thread like this in a while. I have been looking. Wondering about your set ups. And supplies. And if any of you know of places in Houston to buy these things? We went to British Isles which has the most I've seen so far.

I have a Parker shavette straight razor that I use with Astra stainless blades. Taylor of Old Bond Street sandlewood shaving cream with TOBS sandlewood aftershave. I'm not a big fan of the aftershave though and will try something else when I'm done with this one.
On Saturday mornings I'll spend about 25 minutes going through my routine. It's one of the finer things in life.

My face hasn't seen a razor in 10 years.

Aveeno and Gillette good news (twin blade) in the shower. I've tried all the 3456 blade razors but they suck in the nooks and crannies.

Still looking for some type of pre-shave balm/cream that doesn't leave my neck with red bumps

Try the art of shaving pre shave oil

That's actually the best one I've found.

I don't shave anymore, I look like a 16y.o kid without my light beard.

I use a bar of old school hand made glycerin soap and hot water. Make sure the ingredients list is low, glycerin is near the top, and alcohol is not in it. Works like a charm.
Higher end I hear Art of Shaving Pre Shave Oil is awesome. But $25 a bottle. But the old fashioned glycerin soap works for me.

My bead is like barbed wire. I have yet to find a satisfactory rig. I shave in the morning, and if I need to look presentable at night, I have to shave again.

Not sure I trust myself to do an old school shave on myself.

I've had success switching to a butter. Surprisingly, I just picked one up at Wal Mart and it worked great.

Art of shaving pre oil & red bumps can be a sign your special lady friend may be using your razor on her legs

I shave in the shower every morning with the blus razor blades that come 20 in a pack from wal mart. Use conditioner for shaving cream.
Been doing that for 10 years without a problem.

You can watch YouTube videos from Art of Shaving stores where they perform a shave and show you their process.

I haven't used the pre oil yet.

I'm having success with the mid range dollar shave club razors. Shower with Nivea pre shave, soap and shaving butter, Nivea after shave.
