Not what you say, but how you say it.

I thought you were saying you're not almost 40 in general .. Because we know that ain't true ..

Yeah, I kiss my son on the lips, but he's 2. When they're that young, I don't think it's weird.
I know people that kiss their dogs on the lips, and that's just plain disgusting.

BUUUT .. Their mouths are cleaner than ours!

Yeah I don't kiss my dogs on the lips....that's nasty.

My son is 7 and I still hug and kiss him as much as he'll allow me to.

Apparently all the affection your daddy gave did nothing but turn you into a pretentious count. You're an a-hole in every thread I've ever seen you in.

In high school I had a friend that would kiss his day on the lips and we were around 15. I thought that was weird but they were a close family and this somehow made up for it. I don't ever remember my dad even hugging me so I was to young to remember.
My son is 3 and I kiss his cheek all the time.

That's a little harsh...

Yeah. I take it back. I should have stopped at pretentious count.
My apologies St. Augustine.

I'm 27 and my parents kiss me on the neck every time I hug them. I see no problems with it.

Aug's been around a lot longer than you, and I'd have to say my opinion of him is the exact opposite of yours.

Well, you two can be friends then. I don't even know his post history because I don't spend too much time on the OT but this is the second time he's been a cocksucker to me for no reason.

At least it took 7 pages before someone pointed out the correlation between thread topic and my shitty handle

I come from an old traditional New Orleans family and I dont remember much affection growing up from my father. We'd shake hands or he'd give me a pat on the back or something. Most of my friend's fathers were the same way. However I did spend quite a bit of time in Europe while growing up. Usually at least a month a summer so I witnessed the difference in cultures. Europeans are a much more affectionate group and to be honest they seem like a much happier bunch, generally speaking.
Americans, as judged by some responses in this thread, seem to be uptight and judgemental. I dont have children yet, but I plan on being more affectionate than my father was. I don't need to be the stoic patriarch of the family.
