That late to the party is pure bunk. 9 months ago he was waiting on LSU and when he talked to Les he said he was the coolest most down to earth coach around. LINK If the 10 yr "lineage" of putting DLs in the league is still his main criteria then it did not matter that 6 coaches from FSU and FLA showed up unannounced at his basketball game and irritated the crap out of Mom and Dad.

9 months ago: I've been talking to LSU a lot. I think LSU is probably going to be up there. They just want me, and feel like I can fit into the program. And they think they can show me how to take it to the next level. So I'm going to give them a lot of attention.

Mike the Tiger is in his head, pacing like TM7. Anyone rather be a Gator, Seminole, or Bulldog than a fearsome Bengal Tiger? (being literal)

Les has that upbeat personality and he will pull a surprise or two or three to quiet the hand wringers.

Saban is on a 2 game losing streak with the "best" players in the league, and one of the best teams....Saban himself is responsible.

There is no way it can be argued we were "too late" getting in with Carter - OOS kids who don't camp with you get early looks at around January - we were on him before Spring ball last year.

We may lose him to UGA, but it is a - pardon the expression - a dogfight between them and us at this point, IMHO.

He wants to be an engineer and LSU is has the best engineering programs of his remaining schools of interest.

This kid is a once in a decade type talent IMO and LSU would be very privileged to have him not only play football but be a student and mentor to other future Tigers that want more out of their collegiate athletic experience than just sport.

My apologies for your deja vu but this not about yesterday, my post was only to acknowledge LSU's efforts and prospects on NSD with Mr. Carter.

Carter to UGA LINK

OLB (3-4) vs WDE (4-3) may not be as big a factor as we would like.

“They’re in my backyard, they’re close to home,” Carter told The Athens Banner-Herald less than a week before signing day. “My parents can come see me whenever they wanted. They’ll be at all the games.”

The Bulldogs are a prohibitive favorite in this race. Proximity plays a key role, as does Georgia's immediate need for a pass-rushing play maker. Jermey Pruitt comes to Georgia with 3 NCs in 3 yrs. (per article)

Carter...looking more like 2nd place, just too much momentum going that way.

McDowell who?

I agree - that article makes a strong case that he will end up at Georgia. Looks like our coaches made a good play for him though. Can't see how anyone can fault their efforts.

I've been wondering the same thing...who cares if a school offered you after others have. If you like the school, you pick it

Interesting decision.

"Every picture tells a story: Honey Badger II confidence and stats"

"Disruptive Georgia defensive end Lorenzo Carter can make a strong case for consideration as the country's most promising pass-rusher. The 6'5", 232-pound Norcross High School product spent his high school career pummeling blockers en route to the backfield, securing a slew of accolades in the process. " That is exactly how he would be used here. Let's hope he wants to build on that.

With Honey Badger/Mingo skills, he is a disruptive big play maker with 268 tackles, 24 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles in his 2 yr HS career! With a Shaq personality and elite basketball skills, Carter is easily the most likeable DE prospect with the greatest potential to come along in a long time. Who can say anything negative about him, his family or the respect they have paid LSU and every other program on his A list. Saban and Meyer both got dissed and rejected by the Carter family, so the coach has to be a positive role model and not pompous and aggressive.

Delta Doc quote: "This kid is a once in a decade type talent IMO and LSU would be very privileged to have him not only play football but be a student and mentor to other future Tigers that want more out of their collegiate athletic experience than just sport. He wants to be an engineer and LSU is has the best engineering programs of his remaining schools of interest."

Georgia finished eighth in the SEC in total defense (375.5 yards per game) and 10th in scoring defense (29 points per game) in 2013. But they dug deep to bring in Jeremy Pruitt and Tracey Rocker. Jeremy Pruitt made $260K at Alabama in 2012, $540K at FSU in 2013 and is expected to make $850K at Georgia in 2014. However Pruitt has had to retract everything he has said to sell Carter on leaving GA and going OOS to FSU over the past year in just the past 2 weeks, do a 180 and tell him he needs to be loyal to his state. More money clarified both his loyalties and his sales pitch quite nicely for Pruitt.

"However, OLB (3-4) vs WDE (4-3) may not be as big a factor as we would like."

Geography and proximity to family is hard to overcome especially for someone who is so grounded and not out to "shock the world", but to do the right thing for his future as well as his family.

The financial data for "Average" DEs being second only to QBs is very persuasive if he was presented with that information. Additionally, he will not be average, to be sure.

Georgia fans are buzzing about Lorenzo Carter's new Honey Badger hair and ready to confer him with that moniker: 1) Must maintain Honey Badger Hair, 2) should be stipulation of his scholarship.

They want their own HB after losing the 2011 SEC title to LSU. They had that game well in hand, holding LSU to 12 yds in the first half before TM7's Heisman worthy MVP performance single handedly sparked 42 unanswered points.

They are confident Carter will choose UGA over LSU even though he is sporting a tiger stripe on his head and obviously wants to be HBII.
