Not Having Strong Mods on the LSU Recruiting Board is an Anti-LSU Move

We have been asking for this for years. Post slamming recruits or coaches should not be allowed on the Recruiting Board at all. Ever.
I get that the Rant is uncontrollable and that anyone can slam Miles and players all day long. That is how people want it. But, can we have different rules for the Recruiting Board when it comes to recruits.
This has become a common refrain: LINK
I really do not want to see Tigerdroppings be responsible for recruits turning away from LSU.

Please link to an example of someone slamming a recruit. That is the most policed board on site. Please show me an example of something over the line.

I read almost every thread on that board every day and I see lots of posts where at the thought of someone NOT coming to LSU, there is blatant criticism. Everyone is really jumpy and negative after 1/2 and that bleeds through a lot of comments. The Godchaux rumors were the latest example.
But, if it is policed and we are whacking things, then that is fine. I just don't know who the Mods are and the negativity across the board is kind of frustrating - especially when it has the possibility to effect recruiting.
I want people to be able to express themselves and it is part of what makes this board great. But, at a certain point, negativity against coaches/the program takes its toll too.
But, if it is being policed, then I would not see what is getting whacked, so maybe things are better than I thought.

If/When I see something specific, I will come back. It is more of the "if he isn't with us he's Tiger Bait" attitude at the first sign that a recruit might want to go somewhere else or when a rumor comes up.

Yeah we should support players
LINK
Yeah No bashing these kids if they choose another school

Johnson leaving early to go in the 4th is such a joke. He believed he was "the Freak" but did not play like it.
Trai Turner. Did he worry about getting passed on the depth chart with a new OLine coach coming in? That is all that I can figure. The guy might not even get drafted.

Anthony Johnson decided he was going pro after 3 years when he was in high school and was called "Freak." Nothing that he did at LSU demonstrated that he should have left early. Coaches aren't changing their minds.

Cam Robinson is going to be a major disappointment.
You read it here first.

They all lied. Crob lied too saying it was up in the air when he had been Bama all along. Hootie lied when he reopened his commitment.

I said that about CRob after he enrolled at Alabama. He wasn't a recruit any longer was he? He is an Alabama player. Same for Hootie Jones and Tony Brown. Once they are committed to another school and it comes out that they lied to LSU coaches, I don't see where stating that is bashing them while their recruitment is still open.
By the way, you missed the part where I praised Denzall Devall for his recruitment because I was trying to make a larger point. And, he plays for Alabama.
I said that about Anthony Johnson AFTER he declared for the NFL. He isn't ready. I don't think he is ready. But, he isn't an LSU player any more and he made a really bad decision.
Trai Turner is being projected as a 6th rounder to an UDFA. I have no idea what is going on with him or why he would leave now. It is another bad decision. That isn't blasting him. It is true.
Your examples are horrible.
And, if what I said was so bad, then it should have been whacked if we had strong mods. Everyone gets caught up in it when the rules are lax.
So, if you think my comments were out of line, it kind of proves my point, doesn't it?
If mods think that anything that I say is anti-LSU or bad for the program, then by all means, please whack my comment/thread. That is never my intent, but sometimes I get frustrated too. This is not some kind of "holier-than-thou" post. I love LSU and love TD.com. But, sometimes, we all go too far in our brutal honesty.

Splitting hairs....
Most of what you people cry over is stuff similar to what I have linked that you said about LSU recruits who went else where, or those who actually played for LSU.

It isn't splitting hairs. The players you referenced had either already enrolled at Alabama so they were done with recruiting or they had already left for the NFL, so they weren't Tigers anymore.
In both threads, I was making larger points about the lying that happens in recruiting and about the way that guys are making decisions to go to the NFL. I didn't bash Collins or Hill when they were still thinking about it.

So potential recruits are off limits, but players who've gone to the pros or passed on LSU are ok to bad mouth?
ETA MY point is, how we treat former players and players we've shown interest in is just as important how you treat the potential players.

It is splitting hairs, talking about Louisiana kids who went else where in a negative fashion is the same thing as those talking about recruits going on other recruiting trips. It doesn't look good from a recruiting perspective neither does talking ill of former players who actually wore the purple and gold.
If you want to look at it from you shouldn't "bash" the program or players, you should follow your own advice and leave local kids alone just because they didn't make a decision you like and leave former players alone just because they made a decision you don't agree with.

Well, the guy talking shite to Deondre Clarks mom was taken care of, but it still happened, and was up for a good bit.
I'm not telling anyone how to do their job..but it's a serious issue and we need more mods on that board, or make it only accessible to those who have accounts. That would be a start.

Did you request admin on it?
How long was it up?
How long was it up?

Sure did
Thread was a good 12+ hours, the post in question..I want to say 2-3 hours. I got off the board, so I have no clue.
You can run through my posts if they are in the trash, I quoted the guy. Thread was titled Deondre Clarks Mom, or something along those lines.

Recruits are smart enough to put together that there is more to this site than the recruiting board. Louisiana recruits know all to well about tigerdroppings and the Rant. It has been confirmed by recruits themselves they read it and they are turned off by it.

would not be upset if that page was to go away or only certain posters could post in there just like the sec team boards, or make it must be a member of tigerdroppings to view page...its either a pathetic plea for a 17/18 kid to commit or it is I hate that kid and glad he went somewhere else and he sucks and so does his family
like it or not these kids read the board and I understand there are other team/school websites they read too, but tigerdroppings could lead by example and get rid of any bashing and plea for a kid

Is it going to stop people from bashing former players/recruits on other boards as well? The stuff linked earlier is some of same stuff people complain about on recruiting board, do some individual posters cross a line? Yes, well then RA and they are taken care of along with the post. Even restricting access isn't going to "solve" the problem and only allowing certain people the ability to post ruins that board.

Forcing you to be registered would be a huge gain. Tigerdroppings isn't the easiest site to sign up for. Give recruits just a little bit of trouble to sign up, and they might not go.
Also, if it's register only, if they google their name, it won't show up on google.

IMO people overreact. You might have one guy that bashes a recruit then you have 50 people bashing him
Posted on 1/30/14 at 12:23 pm to AlaTiger
Recruiting board is the only board that should be zero tolerance
