I'm seeing random fans of Babbit's say this on Twitter. The only thing I see from a credible source is that he's leaving his Euroteam

quote:

BC Nizhny Novgorod ?@BC_NN 10h

Luke Babbit breaks contract with BCNN. Due to such unfair behavior we wouldn't sign his letter of clearance, so no club is able to sign him

Remember that this is the guy that Monty basically laughed off as an NBA player after a 1 on 1 pre draft interview because he's too slow to play defense. Also

Didn't remember him, but definitely remember the picture.

Was watching a little bit of the Portland game last night and wondered for a second if he was still on their bench.

He's a big man that can shoot, so he'd possibly provide some spacing. Thats about it

Yeah I remember him during the draft and all that. I thought he would be slightly better than he ended up being because he was a good shooter, but definitely expected him to be an end of bench, situational shooter type. He didn't do shite.

He's definitely not a big man, unless he's gotten bigger. More of a SF/PF tweener type, at least at the time of the draft he was.

Bring Babbit on.....
If the goals is to get worse than the Celtics and ease into that #5 position.

He signed his one-year deal with the Russian team in August, when it was apparent that the contract didn’t include an escape clause that would allow him to return to the NBA until the end of BC Nizhny Novgorod’s season. The Russian team indicated in its statement that it’s in the midst of an important stretch, helping explain why it’s reluctant to part with Babbitt.

The 24-year-old forward is averaging 13.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in Russia. Most impressively, he’s shooting 57.4% from three-point range on 3.4 such attempts per contest.

No escape clause also means no buyout clause. Assuming Babbit has no plans to return to Russia, and why would he if he has multiple NBA teams interested, you would think this will become a shake down for $500k. How much does Demps want to add Babbit to the roster?

He will be able to provide some spacing. Not much else.
