I have to say I haven't been back in the iron game long and even when I was in it 15 or so years ago I rarely did deadliest. I have recently become a believer that this is THE Crucial lift for granite crushing ape strength.

How long does it take before you are ripping 4-hundy off the ground?

I'm always scared I'm doing it wrong so I hardly ever try it.

I will see you in 14 years when you're rehabbing from your spinal surgery.

You WILL build strength. You WILL wear your lower back out prematurely as well even with perfect form if your deadlifting that much weight.

WTF? Do you even lift bro?

Seriously, how much you weigh? Might need a video before answering to check form.

Can do about 405. It's my favorite lift.I usually almost pass out when I go really heavy so I don't max out too often.
Agree that it is one of the most important lifts for functional strength.

Same here. I've tried it a few times. Don't feel like I'm doing anything. Also, I feel like I'm going to throw my back out. Am I doing it wrong?

Can any experts help me out?

Yes, Pinch shoulder blades, flex rear leg muscles, drive HEELS into the ground, tighten arse/thrust hips forward at the top.

I do a low weight to lessen the stress on my back but shorter rest/higher reps

there are lots of great instructional youtube videos to show you how to do proper form. I don't do stiff legged ones. I only do regular ones. I weight 188 pounds right now. I don't "max out" either…I do 5x5.. If I can't get 5 reps I'm not attempting the weight.

You do bend your legs slightly though, right?

Bend your knees more and lean back against the bar to preload your arms a little. It's a leg lift until you get the bar around about mid thigh.

I'm not an expert though so don't listen to what I say.

Do them but use good form and don't go heavy. I am young and my back is shot. I can't squat or do much of anything that requires any movement at the hip. It makes working out and doing fun physical things a bitch and even fricks up sex sometimes. Whatever you do, take care of your back. Hoping when I grad and get good insurance I can rehab it back or have surgery to get it fixed.

yes, the bar should ride your shins up. If you scrape skin off your shin you're doing it right

Imagine a vertical plane thru your shoulders down through the bar. You don't want that plane to break all the way up.

yeah I watched tons of videos and I bend legs, weight on heels, arms straight back tight/not rounded, drive heels to the floor, squeeze butt checks and fire your hips to lock at the top…slowly return weight to floor (don't bounce it) before doing next rep.

One key I learned is almost scrape the barbell against your shins

Is their a best way to position your arms/palms? I've seen outside the legs and inside the legs.
