The cell phone culture in this country has gotten out of hand

Just went into our break room to fill up my water bottle and there was a team of 10 employees on a break sitting at a table, none of them talking to eachother, all of them with their cell phones out and their faces like zombies staring at their screens.
Remember when breaks at work meant socializing and talking with eachother?
I leave my phone in my car at work... one because we aren't supposed to have them out at our desks, two because if something is that important to where I need my phone at work, I can go out to my car and get it.
Socializing in person in this country is a lost art. And with younger generations getting hooked on phones and tablets at a young age now, it will not end. I was at a basketball game the other night, and sitting in the row next to me was a family with 3 boys aged 7-12, all of them playing with their iPads the entire game and not paying attention to the game at all.

You want a pat on the back or something?

They were probably just in a group chat. Why waste precious breaths when you can type it out?

I was waiting to talk to a counselor at my school and while I was in the waiting room I was the only person that wasn't on their cell phone. There were like 20 people in the room....

I do. And what a horrible time that was. I'm taking a shite while posting on TD via cell phone and just confirmed a party tonight via text...cell phones are awesome.

Agree. Most are sorry fricks and I would much rather be on my phone reading shite.
With that said, my kids will not have phones until at least 14. 11 year old keeps begging for a phone, I-pad, and TV in her room. It ain't happening.
And there are a shite load of broke mfckers who claim to not be able to feed their family, etc who have no problem paying $85 or more a month for a smart phone that is basically a glorified toy for most of them.

I agree with you.
I'm addicted to my phone, but it's hard not to be when you have the world in the palm of your hand.
Do you have a smart phone?

This thread's funny because it's on the thing the OP hates.
