Hell the way Portland has been playing lately the 5 seed could be up for grabs.

What's the cause for their slumping? Injuries? Or was it really as simple as the schedule toughening up on 'em?
Haven't watched much of them since early in the year.

Injuries?
Did Aldridge play tonight? I saw on twitter the other day he is dealing with some sort of injury and would be the first time one of their starters would have been out the entire season.

It has to be this. I can't think of any other reason for them being 3-7 in their last 10.

No, he didn't play. Crazy that that's the first time they've been down a starter this late in the season, though.
SA was without Parker, Leonard, and a couple others tonight, iirc.

Dang that's crazy.

Spurs have definitely passed the New England Patriots as the most unbelievably impressive franchise in pro sports - honorable mention to the St. Louis Cardinals

Having been a fan of theirs since before the titles, it's been wonderful watching the way they do business.
Run won't last forever, but I don't take it for granted at all. Hope they can win one more for Timmy, but even if not, it's been a helluva ride.

You can see a lot of the small market teams out there trying to emulate what the Spurs franchise has done. I know the Grizzlies are.

Damn straight, and have done a damn good job of it.
Also OKC. And Indiana.
Honestly, once Pop moves on and the Spurs' FO finally finishes turning over, I expect other small market teams to step into that void of vying for titles year in and year out along with the big market/big star favorites.

The biggest transition I have seen from Lionel Hollins and Dave Joeger is that Lionel had no idea how to develop a player.
The FO was successful by making trades and bringing in good free agents for him to coach, but the only player on the roster the Grizzlies actually drafted was Conley.
Joeger was playing all these weird lineups at the beginning of the season and everyone was like WTF is this guy doing, but considering the injury issues we have had those lineups turned into a godsend.
We managed to almost go .500 without Gasol and actually had a winning record without Conley. That doesn't happen under Lionel.

You know, every year on SpursTalk, there are countless threads early in the year bitching about Pop's lineups, but it usually turns out the same way down the stretch--the experience being a boon for the bench (wins and losses mostly be damned).
Definitely a school of thought that pays off if you stick with it.

The post Pop/Timmy era is going to be interesting to watch. They are probably going out together,
Do you think Tony Parker and Maun play much longer after that?

Pop has said as much on multiple occasions

Really would not be surprised to see Manu go out with Timmy, actually (

Tony I could see playing a couple extra years under Pop without Timmy/Manu, just to usher in the new Spurs era. He's really not in it for a payday/notoreity like it seemed he was when he first came to the Spurs.
Damn I'm getting kinda sad talking about this

Yeah he seems the most likely.

I don't blame you. I got sad thinking about Tony Allen getting traded. I couldn't imagine losing guys that have been a part of my favorite team for as long they have been with the Spurs.
Yeah, kind of the last link for me growing up, as weird as that sounds

Been watching Timmy/Tony/Manu since I was a kid--once they retire, the only athletes I follow that will be still active that are holdovers from my childhood days are Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.

This is such a refreshing thread. Some very good pro basketball knowledge in here unlike a lot of the MSB fans from one of those other Texas teams.

I'm a big Spurs fan but I don't post in a lot of Spurs threads. This comment pretty much sums up my thoughts. I have been watching these guys for so long and it is going to be the strangest thing to watch the Spurs one day with no Pop, Manu, Timmy, and Tony.

Spurs conclude the annual Rodeo Road Trip with a loss in Phoenix to finish 6-3 on the nine game sojourn from the AT&T Center.

First game back in San Antonio after the rodeo road trip saw SA down the Pistons 120-110.
Kawhi Leonard returned from a monthlong absence to start the game and put up 15 points for the Spurs.
Manu Ginobili paced the Spurs with 16 points, and one Nike blowout

Somehow managed to destroy the seams of the sneaker

Good win for the Spurs. It's great to see some health returning to the lineup.

Indeed. We sorely need it.
Glad we didn't rush Kawhi back from injury (I believe he probably could have played during the RRT).
Other than an airball on his first attempt and that scary moment when he fell on the alley oop, he looks good.
