what is the best these days.
looking for something hassle free that will look good for years.
i've never replaced my counters before so not sure what's the best material these days.
is it still granite or bust?

I prefer granite, but I'm sure I'm behind the times.

Engineered quartz will give you the look of granite, and doesn't need to be sealed.

Wood. Like an OG.
OK someone mentioned slate. I think that's a good option. It wasn't available for our house so we chose granite which I like also.

Yeah, Soapstone & Silestone (pressed quartz) seem to be all the rage

I enjoy the combo of Soapstone or concrete and copper
Copper for accents like bar top and sink
soapstone for the large counterspaces
