If I bought a tesla do I just plug it into the wall socket (standard everyday wall socket) in my garage or do I need something "extra".
I know stuff is available but do I NEED it?
Thanks!

I think you need a certain charger. It comes with the car.

The thought of paying 35k for a car that would typically cost 15k at the maximum with an average of 45 mpg on a gasoline engine simply to minimize energy consumption only to consume electricity to charge the vehicle on a daily basis is hysterical. Liberal wacks really hit a homerun with this one.

--You CAN plug it into a wall outlet. However, if you plug it into a standard 110v wall outlet, it will take 2 days or more to charge the vehicle.
--I installed a 50amp 220v outlet that is used to charge a Tesla Sedan. It will charge fully in a few hours.
--Baton Rouge is supposed to be getting a Tesla charging station in the next year or so that will fully charge a Tesla in about 20-30 minutes.
--35k won't let you sniff a Tesla. The sedan is about $75k. I think the sport coupe is about $100k.

You can buy the High Power Home Charger through Tesla as an accessory for $2,700.
It is not actually included with the car, even the P85 Performance model S.

The ones I looked at in Houston had a standard wall charger...

You can plug it into a regular outlet 120 or a larger dryer outlet.
they have a super wall charger that is programmable depending on how much current is supplied to the charger.

Your clothes dryer needs a different charger...wouldn't you think that a CAR would need more than an ordinary outlet plug?
