quote:

A controversial bill that would allow high-income parents to avoid paying tens of thousands of dollars a year in child support was written with the help of a wealthy donor to the bill’s author, Rep. Joel Kleefisch.

The Oconomowoc Republican acknowledged Friday that Michael Eisenga, a multi-millionaire business owner, and his attorney helped write the bill, which could pave the way for Eisenga to force the court to reopen his divorce settlement.

quote:

Two attorneys who represent Eisenga’s former wife, Richard Podell of Milwaukee and Michael Collins of Madison, noted Eisenga’s extensive campaign contributions to Kleefisch and other Republican politicians.

Eisenga donated the maximum amount allowed under law six times to Kleefisch...He also gave $7,500 to Kleefisch’s wife, Rebecca, who is the lieutenant governor, and $15,000 to Gov. Scott Walker.

quote:

Court documents show Eisenga, a Columbus developer, owner of American Lending Solutions and the former mayor of Columbus, has been ordered to pay a minimum $15,000 a month for his three children based on his 2010 income of $1.2 million and assets of $30 million.

so he makes 1.2 million, ordered to pay 180k in Child support....so he bribes multiple politicians to help him by making a bill capping what rich guys have to pay in child support.......because 1.02 million/year is too little for him to live off of, so he needs to steal it back from his kids.

but this is pretty good

quote:

Court records show Eisenga has sought unsuccessfully several times to lower his child-support payments. His latest appeal was rejected by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals on Oct. 3. Kleefisch introduced the bill two months later, on Dec. 6.

Kleefisch said he stands by the bill and denies that its primary goal is to benefit Eisenga.

“I do a gamut of legislation with the help and assistance of many, many constituents,” Kleefisch said, “and whether they give a contribution or not has not made a difference.”

Republicans...just as bad as Democrats

Sounds legit.

The depredations those children and their mother have undoubtedly endured.

If not someone who feels screwed by the previous law; who would you expect to fight for a change?

You don't have to spend a bazillion bucks to raise a kid properly fwiw. No, the child is not a victim of stealing here.

Granted, he may not get a Playstation 4 but so what?

Typical republican the law isn't written to your advantage so lets just rewrite the laws asap and get it to our advantage.

Interesting example of the press not doing it's job when it has opportunity to do liberal bidding instead.

Out of curiosity I did a search for the total Eisenga divorce settlement. Alimony, property settlement, financial arrangements, etc.

Outside of cookie-cutter stories about child-support tying this creep to a GOP Rep., I found nothing.
Not one thing.

Press accounts do not even mention Eisenga's ex-wife by name. They do note she has at least two lawyers working for her, though. Lawyers are not cheap. Two lawyers are more expensive still. It would be a solid bet that two lawyers are not going to double team a complaint, if $15K/mo constitutes total resources this woman has coming in.

I would just like to point out that $180k per year is not "child support". It is spousal support masquerading as child support.

Sounds like a nasty divorce where two people are using kids as pawns trying to hurt each other. Husband using political connections, wife using media, as I'm sure the husband did not call attention to this publicly.

I wonder how much alimony was rewarded in divorce settlement?

I wonder what lifestyle on earth would a mother not be able to provide coverage for kids with $15,000 a month I child support. That's 180k/yr, she's in the 3-4% bracket on child support alone?

I wonder how in the hell she would qualify for public assistance?

Sounds like two people need to grow up.

And this is what politicians do. It's not a bribe. The guy isn't stealing. He's being a dick. But the tug at the heart strings emotion over fact method D's have used for so long has run it's course. Had you titled it more objectively, had a chance at a much better, honest, debate

Wut?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with having to buy his kids everything while still having to write checks to his ex. It's about control of they money. Why does it matter how much he makes anyway?

Wouldn't this just make him a lobbyist?

Judging from the 2012 election map I'd say bribery is doing well in some states other than the red ones...

LINK

I'll save you the time, the 26 states that voted for your hero employ 31,160 of the total 47,786 working lobbyists. I think we could AT LEAST say money impacts the law on both sides of the aisle. Although, with your post history (and that of the other genius D's who flocked to this story) I'd guess that isn't a concession you're willing to make...

It is his money. He earned it. His kids have zero right to it. $15,000 a month for 3 kids is ridiculous. You know the ex is just using most of that for herself. What makes the OP think his kids are entitled to that much of their dad's money?
