Weekend Getaway Recs

I'm looking for advice on a three to four day weekend getaway for the wife and I (no pics). We are looking at direct flight options on the Easter weekend and have come up with either Key West or St Pete Beach.
I see that the beaches on Key West are mostly non-existent, but the place is gorgeous. St Pete has some nice options and the flight is half the cost and half the time via southwest out of MSY.
Am I missing anything and what recommendations does the OT have? Budget is 2 to 3k for the trip.

Beach is more her style. We do Gulf Shores/ Destin at least once a year. Flying somewhere is more like it for this trip. We will take another family trip or two in the summer to the beach.
Vegas could be an option, but my budget doesn't agree with me being in Vegas for 72 hours.

The wife and I's weekend getaway is Bogue Chitto state park cabins.

San deigo. Or somewhere else on California coast? St. Pete and key west are both solid options IMO.

Key West is more like a clean Bourbon Street with really nice water views. This might be a plus or minus depending on what you are looking for...

That's actually a pretty good, relaxing weekend.
3 is fine, 4 is too many.

This is actually on my radar. My best friend (and fellow poster) of many years passed away last month and raved about this place. I think I will save this place for another trip for several reasons.
The other ideas are good, but we don't want to spend a day of traveling each way. Austin is two flights with and a 7 hour trip by flight or car. We can be in Key West or St Pete within 90 minutes from the NOLA airport and start the vacation by noon on Good Friday at our destination. I'd rather not drive hours both ways on this particular trip.

I'm a fan of Key West, but there is a lack of beach. So much history in KW. There are several key west threads if you search with plenty of advice.

Yeah I saw a few of the threads. One chap was going there this week and hasn't responded.

Before you start sending people to my neck of the world, we need to run a background check to make sure they are allowable.
