CSR - Believe 5/24 torpedoed my spouse. Guilt by association (authorized user under my credit cards). Application "needs a little longer to review". Oh well, hopefully the 100K bonus will be offered again in December or after the New Year.

Call in and tell them that they were AU accounts. That seems to help.

Typically they won't tell you if you called in but if you have a relationship with a banker, they will do it. That is what I did. I was not pre-approved for any cards so I didn't apply.

The reason I will not product change is because it is just too brutal for me. I had multiple apps open when the leaked link dropped a week ago and I just chose not to apply as I wanted to wait for the official link. I just can't get myself to PC now haha.

I instead did an AoR and got over 5/24 within the day 60K + $200 Alaska and ~75K FlexPerks plus a couple cards to keep me busy for 24 months (OBC and DiscoverIt miles). I think I may just sit on the sidelines and reset my 24 month clocks now. Ink, OBC and DiscoverIt will be a war machine.

If dedicated you could always remove the authorized users and have the CC company delete it from the report

Should not have lowered CLs. Should have used it as bargaining chip and offered to move existing CL to CSR.

AK, here's where I'm at tell me what you think:
In the last 2 years I've gotten 9 cards including 4 Chase (IHG, SW, UA, Ink+). The UA is about to come up on it's 2 year and I'll likely drop it unless they free AF me. The SW will come up on it's 1 year a month after that and I'm dropping that, again, unless they free AF. Between those 2 I have a $36k limit. The Ink+ and the IHG which I'll always keep have a CL combined of $30k. If I keep the UA and SW or one of them should I not lower the CL then and use it as a bargaining chip? Same for the IHG and Ink? I won't be able to apply for the CSR for about a year it sounds like so should I start lowering CL or keep it as a tool?

I applied my wife last night and she got a "further review" line which means she's not getting it because I've gotten my wife close to the same # of cards as me. So I saved myself a credit pull as I don't think I'm getting approved, right? I hope they have this offer for a year or it comes back.

Got my match for ink 70k signup processed

If I downgrade to ink cash, I can still move future earned points to my chase reserve right?

If I go for the CSR, can I downgrade my CSP to regular Freedom? Already have CSP, Freedom unlimited, and Ink all in last 3 months. I don't really want to close an account open less than a year.

Also, is there truth to denial if the Chase credit limit being >50% of income? Between my 3 cards I'm getting awfully close and with the 10k minimum on the reserve I would likely have to move some around. There's plenty on my CSP to move though.

Yes.

Lower some CLs now as that will improve chances of auto approval. It takes a few weeks for lowered CLs to have that effect. So if you are applying right away, it's better to leave as is and use as a bargaining chip at recon.

Should be fine. Apply and then move around credit at recon. Downgrade csp to regular freedom if you want.

Just applied and got automatically approved for $16,400. Pretty stoked. Was on the fence, but what put me over was the calendar year $300 credit for travel. I can get $600 worth of travel credit before I pay my annual fee next year, of which at that point, I will probably just cancel the card and then apply for the Sapphire Preferred and get those 50,000 bonus points.

My understanding is that the AF is not waived and will be added to your first statement. Am I correct with that assumption?

Congrats. Just want to bring to your attention a couple of things:

1) With the $300 travel credit which is so easily applied, your AF comes down to $150 a year.

2) Priority Pass Select membership. You can bring yourself and at least 2 other guests to Priority Pass lounges. Possibly 3. If you fly a good bit, this benefit is huge.

3) Any time you fly domestically, round trip with 1 other person, you can take $100 off on the total cost. Again, if you fly a lot this is huge. Consider this: Flight to ORD yesterday was $76 out of MSY. With CSR, you would pay $52 for 2 people to fly to Chicago, and get free food and drinks at the lounge. $26 a person. Cheaper than what you'd spend a night out at Fred's Free Drinks ( )

4) 3X on Travel and Dining and 1.5X UR Redemption rate through portal for those cheap flights to Asia/Domestically.

TL;DR - This card is a keeper. Even with the $450 AF.

And no reason why you can't have both CSP and CSR. Cancel CSP after year 1.

All great points. Maybe I will after I see the benefits after the first year. Will have to evaluate at that time. I usually only fly like 1 to 2 times a year.

Aren't you doing all this (earning points) to fix this problem?

Possibly stupid question, coming in for you AK45

Just applied, got approved. I can also get my wife to apply and get her own account and bonus right?

So looking at 200K miles instead of 100K. Or is that an awful idea.

No, that is exactly what you should be doing. Get the 200K + $600.

Chase combines HPs if you apply for 2 cards in the same day.
I'd parlay with CSPs . 1 for each. 1st year free and 50K more points. Because, why not?

Any idea of how long this bonus will lay out there? Might want to stagger her card, if possible.

Maybe, but mostly I do cash back cards so this is my first "travel card". New to this really. Also, after looking at the priority pass I'm not sure how much value is there for me. The only airport I fly regularly is Minneapolis and the lounge is really limited.

Don't worry. If you start getting into it, you will find plenty value in it. Like you said, reassess in a year. YMMV.
