Looking to take a disney cruise next fall. What would be a good option on getting travel points to pay for this? I saw a few cards that over 40k or 50k sign on bonuses but i just dont want to get the wrong cards if there is a better way that you guys know of. Thanks

Let's help this guy out.

I don't think the Disney CC is an option unless you're a fanatic.

Where you flying from/to to catch the boat?

I'm thinking with Disney related purchases an something like an Arrival+ might work. I'd imagine the cruise line purchases would be considered travel transactions.

Anyone else have some ideas before we get more info on this?

I'm feeling good I didn't switch from Serve right now. $1500 loads still worked for me with my Arrival this month and can still do the whole load GC thing. Hope I'm Grandfathered in

Probably drive. So basically just need a card or 2 that has a good sign on bonus to help pay for travel. We both have a cap 1 venture right now with about 1000 back on travel. Just looking for another option. Thanks.

Ya, it comes with $400 sign up bonus and works just like that Cap one for the most part, except it allows for partial redemptions in $25 increments. So it could prove useful for you on top of what you already have.

My only concern is the "Theme Park" category may not fall under "Travel." You may want to make a phone call or do further research on that searching Disney/Barclay Arrival on Google

Anyone jumping on this American Airlines Buy Miles flash sale? Ends May 11. Up to 35% off miles, if you buy 100,000.

LINK

Here's some convoluted math:

I just got the AAdvantage Platinum in the mail, so I need to spend $3k to get 50,000 miles in 3 months. 100,000 miles is going for $1,917 - plus I would get 3x points for using the AA card on AA purchases. So if I spend the other necessary $1,083 in 3 months I'd be sitting on roughly 157,000 AA miles.

But you spent almost $2k on those miles. I wouldn't buy that many unless you are guaranteed getting first class and it would have cost a lot more. I think of it this way, you can spend 35,000 miles on a flight here to Hawaii on AA. You can find flights for about $800 RT on Kayak. 100,000 miles at $2k doesn't seem that great of a value to me, but I could be looking at this wrong if there is some trip you're gonna do first class and you can get it for 100,000 miles and it's worth at least $3k+. Otherwise, you're just overpaying for miles to meet a spend. It's good to buy miles just to fill in the gap imo.

I know the Platinum Amex has some serious cruise benefits but not sure if they apply to Disney.

Right. I was looking at two biz class seats to Europe that would cost 200,000 miles RT. But then looked at what they would cost in cash and it was only $1700/ea.

Mine is supposed to come in today . $20 well spent. I should have jumped on that the day it came out. Laziness and I hate even going in to the big box stores, but for 5k SPG points/month, it would've been worth it.

Oh well. Would love to find another Amazon payments. Now that was easy pickins.

Teddy did you have your Serve scheduled to auto load? It deleted my cards off both of my accounts.

My CC was linked and was never removed. I had Serve with Isis/Softcard and the rumor is that is the version that got through.

Already did my loads for May but will have to see how long I make it before they find us.

Hey Bacon,

Blog post discussing not putting spend on Delta card despite being hub captive. May or may not be useful to you, just bringing it to your attention.

Very nice.

You have an Office Depot/Max near you? Visa gift card promo works like a charm. I'll probably try to hit it up 4-5 times during the promo if I can. Hopefully net about 15k free UR points.

I believe for the Delta homers that still spend $30 or $60k with the Amex Reserve it probably still outweighs other cards due to the MQMs.

About to start looking to book my first Delta points trip on Korean Air. ICN-ATL 70k Sky Peso's + $47 biz class(14 hr flight).

I've talked about that card on here a couple of times. Just got it recently. It's a good card if you need/want the benefits or have a big trip coming soon. If I had a 100,000 platinum offer, I'd go with that over this, but I've only gotten a 75,000 one recently.

What are the thoughts on the AMEX Preferred EveryDay? Looks to be a pretty good deal if you use the card a lot and buy groceries/gas often.

I personally wouldn't carry it, but I just don't spend enough at grocery stores not named Target(which don't count) to even consider it. There are better cards that get 2x or better on gas. And it's limited to $6k spend on the bonus categories.

If you spend $6k/year on gas/groceries and swipe 30 or more times per month, it's a pretty good card, but I'm also not swiping any 1 card 30+ times per month.

I only use 1 card, so I swipe about 80 times a month so I easily hit that number. I am not traveling like I used to so I need to change from my current AMEX Blue Sky Preferred card.
