Last time Lane Kiffin was OC it was 2005 USC….two 1000 yard running backs,1000 yard wide receiver. Avg 579 yards, 49 points per game. That amount of production on offense with our defense would be unstoppable. Plus he's an amazing recuiter. We will get 2 more 5* a year with Kiffin. The only thing that concerns me is how long could we keep him.

I can't even imagine the classes we would pull in with both Sabn and Kiffin.Probably would sign 15 five stars.

He can recruit, but can't coach...Saban doesn't need him imo

I have no idea how Bama fans can rationilize this hire.
Because this was not a last resort hire, and Kiffin has been in Tuscaloosa for several weeks interacting with the staff. If Saban feels this is the right decision, I am not one to question him. Perhaps it will be a mistake, I do not claim that it is fool-proof. On the other hand, those who are elated at this hire and believe it will bring some kind of downfall to the Alabama program are being a bit premature (as are Bama fans expecting an offense like the '05 USC team).

saban going to call the offensive plays...or just say take a knee and let my D back out there?
Because no matter who he hires, yes he'll need an OC that can coach.

Lane Kiffin is expected to be offered the OC position at Alabama within the next hour. Sources close to the action say he will accept today.
I guess I'm the only one skeptical. Ok, seems legit to me too then. Yay for Kiffin!

It's interesting to me that the vocal majority of the omg greaet hire bama your program is going to shite crowd is coming from a particular fanbase.
Translation: We are so fricked with kiffin calling plays and recruiting at bama, but we're going to feign happiness about it until he proves us wrong

So you'renot worried at all about the negativity that comes with this hire?

Could potentially trump Saban to Texas on a scale of detrimental to Bama's football program
Posted on 1/9/14 at 2:01 pm to gnarkill1529
Not really. Like I said, the negativity will be during the off-season, and mostly from the media (broadcast or otherwise).
Remember how negative the reaction to hiring Saban was?

so fans overnight warmed up to him*
Hell just him visiting tuscaloosa as a consultant ruffled some feathers.
*obviously if you guys continue winning with him no one cares, because winning cures all.

When Saban says jump, we ask 'how high?'. Not to mention that fans, outside of major donors, mean frick-all to staff decisions.
I guarantee that if Kiffin has success, all traces of ill-will shall disappear, at least from fans.

Lolwut?
I remember Bama fans couldn't walk through doors sideways because of their raging hard-ons after they hired Nick.
