Lane Kiffin has a career record of 35-21 as coach of Tennessee and USC. (USATSI)Former Southern California head coach Lane Kiffin is interviewing for the Alabama offensive coordinator job as early as Thursday, according to a source.
Kiffin will visit Tuscaloosa for the interview but won't be alone in the running for the job. A long list of NFL suitors should be involved for a coveted job to replace Doug Nussmeier, who is now Michigan's offensive coordinator.
The 38-year-old Kiffin, who went a combined 35-21 as coach of Tennessee and USC, visited Alabama during bowl prep as a consultant/observer.
Kiffin runs a pro-style offense, which fits with Saban's style of ball control and a physical running game. But Saban has said recently that he's open to upping the tempo to adapt to attack defenses.
Alabama would be a stable landing strip for the embattled Kiffin, who has already held three major head-coaching jobs. One of Kiffin's former employers, Tennessee, plays host to the Crimson Tide on Oct. 25.

Please God let this happen. This guy is a cancer. This could be the demise of Saban.

The best part of this is going to be the BAMA fans that are going to try to justify this. I wish I can pull up the posts about him when he was at Tennessee.
This guy is a complete fricking douchebag and the BAMA fans are going to welcome him with open arms. I saw Capstone trying to justify it last night. Saying Kiffin was an amazing OC in 05 with USC. Well, no shite. Look who was on that team to go along with probably the 2nd best college RB to ever play the game.
At the same time, Kiffin is going to fit right in with this program. Complete lack of humility and complete sense of entitlement. You guys deserve each other. Douchebag with douchebag. Perfect.

The Trojans scored 50 points a school-record 7 times. USC became the first school to have a 3,000-yard passer, a pair of 1,000-yard runners and a 1,000-yard receiver in a season.

That would be a GREAT hire!

Saban knows recruiting is waaay more important than anything else in college football.
Kiffin is as good as hired IMO.

I don't think we hire Kiffin, but I can enjoy the ride until we hire someone else.

I'm not a BAMA fan and I really like Kiffin as an OC. If you want to talk about his personality and ability to lead an organization, I am with you. AS A PLAY CALLER and recruiter, he's very good.

I love how YOUR life is "sad"...as stated by the Ohio State fan commenting on a predominantly LSU fan site while discussing an Alabama potential hire.
That is a rich, fulfilled life being lived by that douche...err...dude
ETA: On the topic at hand..I have no idea if Kiffen is a serious contender or if he would be a bad hire. I suspect he would do just fine in the job. But, the baggage is plentiful and do not really believe he will get the job.
I think the "serious consideration" is a bit of an image rehabilitation. Likely, just a favor by Saban
