Was the Million Dollar Man you knew Ted Dibiase?
He lived around the block from my parents in Woodmore Subdivision in Clinton, MS (on Winding Hills Drive) back in those days (mid to late 1980s). He was a nice guy and not all that big, just well developed.
You would see him around town a lot - at Jitney Jungle and such.
Funny story. One night in 1989, the wife and I were standing in line at the Northpark Mall cinema in Jackson. I can't remember the movie we were going to see, but the lines were long.
Eventually, I turned to my wife and said "I have just lost all faith in Professional Wrestling." She asked what did I mean and I pointed about four people ahead of us in line to a guy with two small children at the ticket window and said,
"The meanest man in professional wrestling (Ted Dibiase - The Million Dollar Man) just bought tickets for himself and his two kids to see The Littlest Mermaid."
I met him around Clinton a few times - T-ball games, kids soccer and such. Yes, he was a nice guy.
I also met the original "Undertaker" at a Christian retreat in Sumatanga, Alabama once - maybe 20 years back. At that time he was trying really hard to pull his life back together. He came with a group of firemen from somewhere in Indiana. I remember him as being really tall, quiet and heavily tattooed (for those days). In a small group session, he said that pro wrestling was filled with drugs and bad people and that it had broken his soul. I have often wondered about him in the years since. His manager - "Paul Bearer" was not with him.
I think the current Undertaker (if there is an Undertaker now) is a different guy and not the guy I met.

What a shame. The guy I met had problems.
Hope he overcame them.

I have another professional wrestling story. I was in Jackson Airport one morning a long time ago, waiting for a delta flight, when I looked across the terminal and saw Andre the Giant. Turns out he had been to Jackson to have knee surgery. He was on crutches and really banged up, slow moving and (seemed to me) in a bit of pain.
There was a black family there - two older people man and wife and a really young black kid (little boy about three feet tall). The little boy knew Andre and eventually got the courage to go up to him. Andre, very-very slowly put down his crutches and worked to a crouch beside the kid so that the (grandmother?) could take a picture of the two. Andre with his arm around the kid. Later when I entered the jet, Andre was in two seats in first class, with his leg stretched out as straight as he could get it. I nodded, made a comment about it being nice to see him with the kid in the terminal lobby, and he smiled and spoke as I passed by on my way to the cheap seats.
I guess he died three or four years later. He was a physically big man - truly a giant.

I assume he was Mark Callaway. I was told by the firemen he was the undertaker. I have a son, the size he was then, and they spent some time together that weekend - obviously the two tallest men in attendance.
I listened to him talking in small group sessions, but never asked. A Christian retreat is not the place I would challenge someone's identity and the guys he was with (who brought him) were good men. The arm tattoos were a dead match for what I had seen on TV. This was back when he was much thinner than the photos I see now.
I seem to remember that one of the firemen led him to Christ one night that weekend in the bunk room at Sumatanga they were staying.
Sumatanga
That may be wrong, but it is what I remember, because I was happy for him when I heard. If I am wrong, it is the ramblings of an old guy with no harm intended.

Ted DiBiase used to have a house on Lake Bruin back in the 90s.
I don't recall ever having any interactions with him but I remember seeing him around town or out working in his yard

I got a heel stare from Johnny Grunge at this PPV, when I yelled "You're from Sulphur, not Philly." He's originally from Sulphur, and was buried in Carlyss when he died.

Great Khali would work out at Gold's in McDonough. Walking was a real struggle for the guy.
I've met Dibiase Jr and Sheamus at a movie theater I worked at in birmingham when they were doing a show. Had a third guy with them, recognized his face but didnt know his name. Older dude, used to wrestle, but does a lot of behind the scene stuff now. Talked to him for about 10 minutes while they were waiting through the credits of Thor. Said Khali needed knee surgery roughly 15 years ago. Wont stop wrestling because he has to have the money. If he had the surgery his career would be over. That was in the spring of 2011.
Both nice guys, neither as big as they look on TV. Sheamus didnt weigh a pound over 235.
Also met Randy Orton in 05 at the airport in Dallas. Sat about 5 rows in front of me on the plane to OKC. Talked to him for just a moment, told him hi and sorry to bother him. He replied "fans are fine, its planes that bother me".
Since none of this happened in Atlanta though, I guess it doesnt count.
