TOS isn't something you can binge watch like shows of today. Each episode is a stand alone that you can watch pretty much in any order and enjoy. Avoid Spock's Brain.

I didn't say "only" they had staying power - I have been very complimentary to TNG in this thread (but fair, I think with my criticism, as well) and I have tried to steer it back towards the original topic - which I will do now. I said they had a certain rewatchable factor that I believe the others lack (to be fair, I've seen most of the TNG episodes a half dozen times, each, or more - so I may be comparing apples to oranges).

I am a fan of the Star Trek brand all the way through 2008 (and I'll leave it at that.)

I don't agree with this - one of my problems with Kes (and one of the strengths of DS9 - in my opinion) was there was so much potential there was just squandered. DS9 really got into Sisko struggling with being the Emissary, Kira's past as a Bajoran freedom fighter/terrorist, Odo's struggle between living among his human friends/rejoining his biological family, Quark's struggle with his place in Ferengi society, the joined Trill issues with Dax, deeper into Klingon issues - we learned more about each of them than we ever did with Kes - who, again, IMHO is one of the most wasted characters in all of Trek history. The set everything up perfectly. Now part of it was she left the show - but still, they could have done more with her while she was there.

To their credit they did better with Seven of Nine in that area, certainly - she was a great vehicle for expanding on the Borg. Certainly inspired by the sexual tension between the Borg Queen and Data - Seven did put a literal human face on the Borg collective at large - extensions of 2 separate TNG-based stories - the Borg Queen from First Contact, and the "de-assimilated" Borg team from TNG - Seven was the most intriguing character of Voyager during the back half of the run (although, admittedly, I have seen only about 1/3 of Season 6, in a disjointed fashion, and little of Season 7.)

Don't argue sci-fi with Ace guys. He thinks BSG sucks.

Really liked Voyager. It has its faults, but the plot of the long journey and exploration made it very enjoyable. The doctor is great imo.

One of the Enterprises was heavily damaged with Worf and Riker as the only surviving crew members. They came from a timeline where the Borg had all but destroyed the Federation, and the remaining Federation ships were on the run. I think a series based on that would be very interesting. More interesting that the standard travelling to different plants bit.

Wasn't that the episode were Tasha yar was on the enterprise C or D from another time and then later on we learn that Tasha had been captured by Romulus, raped, and given birth to a daughter that later teamed up with the 2 klingon whore sisters to make sure their genetically altered brother would become ruler in stead of gulducot. I know my spelling sucks.

So, you have no issue with SPECIES intermingling in the series?

I really think you missed the point of Star Trek. Look at the original series, Kirk bedded a green girl, and a black lady was in a military organization in space doing important things. Granted, she was basically a phone operator but the show was ahead of its time when it came to looking past skin color and such. You probably also disliked DS9 because a black man was in charge, right?

I really enjoyed DS9. I definitely got into the whole ware and interconnecting storyline in it, which as very different than "Next Generation" or any of the other series.

Voyager is definitely worth a viewing. I really didn't mind Janeway all that much, but I guess Chakotay did kind of such. The Doctor was a great character as people have mentioned. Brought the boogeyman that was the Borg to the forefront of a series, and introduced something that even they feared.

The thing I find funny in all the series is when a character has a change to their uniform with no on screen comment of it happening. Like when Picard starts wearing the grey shirt and the fancy, suede looking jacket. And I think Torres all of a sudden started wearing some sort of engineering coat with sleeve pockets and stuff. Definitely makes sense. Speaking of pockets, silly that the cadet uniforms had cargo pockets but the officers didn't. Pockets would be important even in the future.

The acting hurts at times, but the visuals and the stories are pretty good.
