She could rebuild a transmission, do all of the home repairs, and mow the lawn, but she is NOT touching the grill.

ETA: Just a clarification, I am not aware of any transmission rebuilding skills, but I'm not 100% sure she can't.

All good!

Hope everything is okay! I had gotten off early from work yesterday to re-wrap some pipes to be extra safe...then we ran the water as well.

This is the first year we live in the house and wife wanted to be safe..everything is A-Okay though!

not my pipes because I let the water run in the kitchen sink but all my ginger plants in the front and backyard were all wilted. I'm sure they're going to die

I had a toilet water supply line freeze in 2011 during the Super Bowl week Ice Storm in Dallas. The toilet was near an exterior wall. I have pier & beam and there was a ventilation hole at that spot in the beam where the 30 mph west wind was coming in. I dripped the sink faucet next to the toilet but that did no good. Next time I will plug up the foundation vent and stick something under the toilet flapper so it leaks all night.

I'm just past my first year living in mine as well. I wrapped the exterior main pipe coming into the house, but I only let a couple faucets drip. Tonight I'm letting all of them drip.

Buddy of mine down the road let his drip and they still froze. I let mine with a steady stream and nothing. Ran everything except guest house hot and they froze.

Let my faucets outside drip last night and the night before. All were good except for 1. The coldest side of the house that gets no sun. Hopefully nothing bursts. But the pipes are actually inside the wall, only the faucet is exposed.

If its a mild freeze empty the ice out of your ice maker, it will keep a slow stream of water running trying to make more ice. I have been doing this for years with no issues.

I was renting a camp on amite river several years ago that was 10' off the ground with all cpvc water lines exposed underneath. Left hot and cold faucets drip and they froze anyway.

Moral of the story if you have a pier house with exposed pipes they are susceptible to freezing so you may have to let a little more water flow to keep them from freezing.

Btw it's best to drip exterior faucets hot and cold both drip rather than just a single faucet or two.

When I went to to turn on the shower this morning the water just trickled out for about 5 seconds then it came full blast.

That was after I was washing clothes until midnight. If I hadn't done laundry I imagine it would have frozen solid.

Mine is located near an exterior wall as well. Did yours burst? Did you let it just defrost on its own?

you sound almost as nervous as me. I feel like I need to be on my way home right now to get a hair dryer out and try and find where that thing is frozen, if it still is. It's still below freezing at my house, but it's 25 and not in the low teens like it is at work right now.
