What is the greatest threat to America?

This was a question posed to retired Colonel Peter Mansoor, former executive officer to General David Petraeus during the surge in Iraq, yesterday in an "Ask Me Anything" thread on Reddit.
I thought his response was both poignant and true:
Just a quick perusal of the threads on this board highlight that very few can find any common ground with the other side.
Anyone agree with his statement?

Collapse from within - the increasingly polarization of our domestic politics. We need to find common ground and work from the middle outward, not from the extremes inward.

The willful surrender of personal liberty in exchange for the security of the state.

No. If you read closely, we find common ground on a ton of stuff (War on Drugs, taxes, schools, overseas involvement, 4th Amendment rights), but the MSM and political parties continue to divide us by distractions and nonsense.
In all honesty, the greatest threat to Americans is not some foreign madmen, but the sociopaths that rule us.

And it's important to point out that the person who made the original comment that inspired this thread was trained and employed by the system setup by those sociopaths. His reluctance to admit the whole truth demonstrates his successful indoctrination.

The lefts desire and will to surrender the country in the exact manner told to us by Kruschev fifty plus years ago. They truly love the fact that Obozo is ruling the country as an emperor would do in any era of history examined through history. Earlier today I saw a brief interview of one out of eleven states Attorney Generals involved in a suit against all of the changes made by him to the ACA with nothing more than a few strokes of his auto-pen for effort. It might come as a bit of a surprise to the faithful but a President doesn't get the power to choose what parts of a law that they will enforce of any given law, even when they signed it themselves. The immigration laws are nothing more than toilet paper in terms of enforcement by him and Holder and states in the West and some others on the eastern seaboard.

Americans who want to be taken care of surrendering their rights.

Kathleen Parker has a WSJ column on this. She calls 2013 the year of power grab. Govt centralizing like never before at a rapid pace. Delving into areas of life that were never meant by the Constitution to be under Govt purview.
The purpose? To give Govt the power to choose winners and losers instead of allowing the free market to decide.
The winners are those who elect central planners (a little Hayek lingo). The losers are those who oppose central planners.

Selling individual liberty for collective "security."

The laziness and stupidity of the average American is the main cause of our political issues. Although you could argue this was caused by certain policies so its sort of a chicken and egg situation.

Money.
There is to much of it and yet not enough at the same time.

If there was no money in politics you would get all of your information from the MSM and the Dems would never lose another election.
This is why Gannett has been waging a war for public financing of all campaigns for decades. They would become king makers.
