Even his "ownership" of the nets was mainly a branding name deal.
I looked, his stake before he divested was .067%. $355,000 worth. Yet he talked like he owned 51% of it.

not only did he revive gangsta rap, he re-created the rap video and did the whole "crossover" stuff (like forming a sports agency)
and i'm no nola rap dick sucker. i typically hate that shite

quote:So now Diddy has more credibility than Jay-Z?
While Diddy on the other hand has pretty created and evolved his brand and image throughout the years
How about the number of music groups he's tried to make successful that have tanked?

He and his wife made a cool 100 million combined this past year. I don't think it's too far fetched he'll hit a billion in the next 10-15 years.

Only thing is Master P wasn't able to sustain his success but I think he laid the foundation for Rappers to transition into business and brand themselves. He had a cell phone company
*Also Bout Bout is a cinematic masterpiece

honestly he didn't last b/c he was too far ahead of the industry/market, but i give him "visionary" props

What we're trying to say to you fan boys is that Jayz hasn't broken the mold for rappers turned businessman and his success is actually comparable to that of his peers

Not really. People are overrating the shite out of him but very very few of his peers have been as successful as him.

This is what happen when people download music instead of buying CD's. Now we have rappers wanting to get into the sports biz to make money.

So what does the NCAA do when Jay-Z steps in at the elite 11 camp and gives them all record deals for their "musical abilities"?
Genius I say.

So has everybody with the power since the music industry started.
Plus the power a budding athlete has >>> the power a budding musician has.

I can't link the article right now, but the deal with the nets was really a cover for the Barclays center, which he still has a nice stake in. So he will basically make money off the Barclay center as long as he lives.
