I'll join this list making fun.

Dishonored - A nice spin of the stealth action genre.
The Last Story - A cool JRPG with an interesting combat system and some good characters.
Persona 4 Golden - Would easily win GOTY had it not come out in 2012. Fantastic all around.
Vanquish - Platinum Games makes a TPS, of course it's great.
Bioshock Infinite - Don't really need to explain this one.
The Last of Us - ^^
Soul Sacrifice - Loved everything about it except for the grind for rare items.
Ni no Kuni - Very enjoyable and a lot of reminds me of retro RPGs
FF14 - Still playing, love it lots.

The amount of fun I have had this past year playing on consoles makes me wonder if I should get a ps4 sometimes. I think some of that is games like last of us and gta and some of it is that I just play on consoles and on pc I distract myself with configurations sometimes

Go for it. If there isn't that you want right now, wait for a deal/bundle/price drop. I highly you'll regret the purchase completely because you can't everything you want at one place.

Missing a few words in that statement . I'm waiting as of now. The only game I would play now is killzone which I don't care that much about. I still have plenty of ps3 games to play and a lot of games on pc. My mom did say she was giving us all money this year to go get whatever we want for Christmas since we are too old to shop for so depending how much I get I may get one now.

This really applies for guys like us that may be behind and played a lot of games that we missed.
Exactly!

AC Brotherhood
I've only played AC2 but I have AC4 on PS4 but have barely touched it. I'm looking forward to it, though.

Max Payne 1&2
Maybe it's just me but bullet time mechanics in video games never get old for me. I liked it in Max Payne, and I liked it in Red Dead and GTA V too.

God of War
GOW 2 is easier but it's my favorite of the trilogy. I'll be interested in seeing what you think of it if you get around to playing it.

It's SO hard but so much fun, especially with the permadeath. You're always having to weigh the risk to reward ratio because if you die, it's all over. Back to the beginning.

Dishonored
I bought this during the summer Steam sale and have yet to play it. I've heard it does a great job with the stealth mechanics and dealing with stealth "failure."

Uncharted 1 & 2
3 finishes out the trilogy nicely but 2 is the pinnacle in my eyes.

Tomb Raider
I've got to play this! I played it for a few hours on 360 and I liked it but didn't love it. It keeps coming up in GOTY discussion, though, so I think I need to revisit and push forward a bit longer.

Ni no Kuni
I bought this for $10 the other day but still need to play it. I know it's long, so I may never finish it, but I'm okay with that. I've seen enough screenshots to know the art style will entertain me for a good while at least. (And it's something I'm not afraid to play in front of my kids.)

It's definitely got a charm and I wouldn't be surprised if younger kids enjoyed watching you play it.

Get tomb raider on ps4 when it comes out. It will probably look like my pc version did which is awesome. It was just a fun game and the bow is awesome

I just heard about the "definitive edition" they are releasing. I might do that. I borrowed the 360 version from a friend and have since returned it (and sold my 360).

With games today I feel we've become more pampered if a character dies. We know that we'll just start back where we were. Spelunky send me back to the days of Contra where when it's over , it's over. I love it. Makes me realize why I started playing games in the first place. Simple yet challenging games.

Can you tell me more about this one? I love old school rpgs like Chrono Trigger and FF3 on SNES, so is this game similar to that? I see you also mentioned young kids possibly like watching the game play out. I have a 3 year old, so this interests me as well.

I think it's also interesting to contrast "Spelunky's" design approach to "Rogue Legacy's."

In Rogue Legacy when you first start the game, in similar fashion to Spelunky, you die a lot and have to start at the beginning after each death. As you continue to play your character levels up and they are able to survive longer and longer until you can eventually reach the end of the castle and beat the game.

In Spelunky you die a lot but you "level up." You, the player get better and better and are able to get further and further. Your character is exactly the same as the first day you played.

I think this difference is one of the reason I didn't particularly care for Rogue Legacy, though I may need to play more of it.

Thanks for the heads up. My son is pretty good about that. My daughter...not so much. She got frightened by an episode of Full House the other day.

Maybe it's because of their creepy family
