MZ8 is the DEFINITION of a pocket passer. No one is going to give two shits about his knee.

I wouldn't go that far. But the knee injury isn't nearly as devestating as it would be for a mobile QB or for someone who didn't play at a major program on national TV every game under the direction of Cam and Miles. Most scouts know who/what Mett is by now. What he needs is to get out and do a shite-ton of interviews with GMs and scouts to showcase his expanding football IQ and just how much he's matured as a man in the last couple of years.

His QB coaches the last two seasons are pretty respected in the NFL. I don't think his "network" will be negatively impacted by not going to the Senior Bowl.
If he truly was a mid to late 1st rounder before the injury, and is still, according to some a 2nd rounder after the injury, getting healthy is far more important than "networking."

You're either an idiot or you know nothing about the draft process whatsoever

I'm a clinician: let me say that every single day of rehab is greatly important. An ACL reconstruction is an ACL reconstruction is an ACL reconstruction is never the case. Each individual operation and subsequent rehab is unique in its own based on a variety of factors. In this day and age he can communicate with scouts / coaches who are interested via multiple modes of communication without having to be there. And NO. finding a clinic while you are out of town doesn't cut it by a long shot.

Congrats on not knowing what the hell you are talking about.

I find it hard to believe he couldn't find a facility in the near area to conduct some of his early term rehab. Or he could just attend an event or two and be in/out in a day or less.
you talk about it like he's getting a haircut and just needs to find a local barber.
he can't play. why go? do you think that all the pro-scouts there would be clamoring to have a 5 minute conversation with him rather than with the guys who did play?

Mett wouldnt have been playing in the Senior bowl either way even if he were injury free

Torn ACL. Less than 2 months after surgery. He would be a fool of the first order to even participate in non-contact drills. And every day of rehab is important. If he can't demonstrate his physical skills (and at that point he can't), he sure doesn't need to swap rehab for schmooze.

Is he missing an opportunity to network and display his football IQ, or is he showing his dedication to rehab?
every rehab session increases the chance he'll be able to do that

he didn't tear his MCL it was a sprain, which was initially the first report of what happened not the ACL. With the draft being pushed back into May, he gets about 5 1/2 to 6 months to get healthy and do a little work right before the draft.

Or he might not want his opportunity to make an impression be with him completely immobile and unable to even walk normally.
I'm 100% sure this decision was made with everything in mind. It's ridiculous to think that he just doesn't recognize the opportunity.

i'm skeptical he's able to do anything but interviews at the combine. he tore his ACL and MCL. The combine is February 18-25. It would be very optimistic he'll be ready to resume any sort of football activities just a few months after suffering the injury he did, and quite frankly wouldn't be worth the potential risk
Signs of intelleigent life on the tRant.

I can't imagine limping around Mobile for a week will help him in any way. This is dumb.

No, it isn't. You are over thinking this, a lot.
Senior Bowl practices are definitely a good showcase, but usually moreso for guys from small schools who are playing with guys from the SEC/B1G/ACC etc for the first time. There will be scouts from every NFL team at LSU's pro day, so he will get all the interviews he needs. He can also interview at the combine.

Senior Bowl is usually for guys with a lot to prove, small school guys, guys in a non-pro system etc etc
Mett wouldve been for sure at the top level of QBs in the class and his agent wouldve wisely told him to not do shite until his pro day. Show them the arm in a controlled area and watch that draft stock sky rocket

it's only a big opportunity to miss if you're a guy who scouts haven't seen much of or you're a guy who may not be drafted. for a guy like mett who has plenty of game film and has played for a national audience almost every game, it's not going to mean anything
Going to the Senior Bowl has nothing to do with the Senior Bowl game itself, it's all about the week of practice and drills leading up to it where scouts and head coaches from every team are evaluating you.
