How bad of a gamble would Kliff Kingsbury be for UT?

Hire this kid for the long term future of their university, they could have a youthful stud coach for the next 35 years.

Ask Missouri about Quin Snyder hire for BB. I would not hire him for a job that big - yet.

It'd be a lot like Rich Rodriguez at Michigan. Square peg in a round hole.

It would be a terrible hire. I'm not even sold on him as the Texas Tech head coach. Texas Tech completely collapsed after that great start to the season.

It would be an awful hire. He would fail, guaranteed.

If they were going to go with a young coach, James Franklin is only seven years older than Kingsbury and is a more proven commodity.

1 year as a head coach and I still think that was a bit premature. I think texas and Kliff would be making a mistake, much like I think tech and Kliff both made a mistake.

Edit: And Kliff is a tech guy through and through. I think he probably hates texas.

KK is a Tech guy through and through he is in his dream job where he is. The only way he'd leave is if Tech fired him and I don't see that happening for a few years at the minimum. They will give him time to build that program up.

Not happening. Texas actually did this before when they hired David McWilliams (aka Mack I) to replace Fred Akers. McWilliams coached Tech for 1 year and performed above expectations so Texas hired him. He was in way over his head and lasted just a few years before they hired Mackovic (Mack II).

I do think Kliff would take the job because Texas could double his salary and though he is a Tech guy he also knows he is limited there. He's also from New Braunfels which is just South of Austin and in truth Kliff is not what you would call a Lubbock kind of guy
