At Texas the head coach is just that. If he wins a MNC, he may have a little more power. The money in Texas talks and it is huge. Something bama or almost anyone else (ND) can only wish for. Little Nicky is king at bama. He tells rich donors to STFU and they say yes sir. He couldn't do that at Texas and that is why he stayed put.

Well, it's like I've said. Part of the reason it was so easy for Saban to come in and do that is because our rich donors have been cowed over the last 20 or so years. They've seen their schemes blow up in their face and otherwise prove much less effective than they expected. Their meddling put Alabama in a really bad place.

Saban came at the perfect time to sweep them all off into the background.

Texas's cigars are a lot richer and a lot more arrogant (though I realize that, with money people, arrogance reaches a point of diminishing returns).

This isn't over just yet.

When you win big, early and often, you become king...

It's very simple and it works in any State or program..

Most people have a boss or bosses, even Nick.

The main difference appears to be that the Longhorns boosters have Jerry Jones-itis and appear to be very invested in everybody knowing that they're big shots while the Crimson Tide boosters seem very invested in simply building a winning program.

Rejection syndrome lingering after 7 years plus years really screams for help.

You need to be honest with yourself and get help.

It's just a game, you don't really bleed purple and yellow. It may be hard for you to accept but you actually bleed crimson.

Alabama is the GOAT CFB program, Texas is not.

I assure you that if Saban brought 3 NCs in 6 years to UT, he'd be king there too. Mack's issue was 1 NC, and 2 conference titles in 16 years. Saban matched his conference titles in 6 years at Bama, and has 3 times as many titles in that same 6 year span.

Hell, btw LSU and Bama, Saban has had 4 conference titles and 4 NCs in 12 years, or one every 3 years.

Mack has 1 NC every 16, and 1 conference championship every 8 in a significantly weaker conference.

Or he gave Texas an ultimatum to hire him by the start of the weekend before the dead period so he can recruit for Texas. When it wasn't met, he stuck with Alabama

From my years on this planet I've observed another difference between the two. Texas is in Mexico and Bama is in the great state of Alabama.

Nick Saban is at Alabama solely because of great timing and an AD who was smart enough to strike while the iron was hot. If the circumstances were different in late 2006 (i.e. UT was not one year removed from a NC, and Bama was not struggling to field a consistent winning team) then Saban would likely have 3 NC's at Texas as opposed to Bama.

Bama is a great program, and has been for a long time. But the only difference between Texas and Alabama is that Saban is 62 years old and has everything in place at Bama. Rich people have big egos regardless of where they live. I promise you that if Saban pissed off enough Bama donors they wouldn't just sit there and say "yes sir."

The reason he stayed put is because I believe him when he says, "I'm too damn old to start over". The task of rebuilding a Texas program (no matter how quickly it could be accomplished) didn't intrigue (sp?) a 62 year old, 4 time NC coach like maybe it would have if we were talking about a 52 year old 1 time NC coach.
