re: Has Mark Hudspeth at ULL's name ever come up for a vacancy at a bigger school?

We're definitely a run first team. Once yall got up early and we turned it over then Elijah got hurt, we couldn't do anything. Yall had a very impressive defensive line.

lafayette people want to be relevant so bad that they cant wait for hud to get mentioned for a better job.

problem is, they will then fall back to mediocrity.

Mentioned didn't say they want him to leave, just in the mix

And if you think that the Cajuns will stay on this level after Hud, then you probably think that adding seats to the stadium is a good idea.

Going 8-4 in the Sunbelt doesnt get you a lot of offers.

I was at the game and did not realize they lost their starting RB. I knew about yall having your back-up QB though. Were you guys always so reliant on the run game this season or was your complete inability to pass the ball only due to the back-up QB?

Run first, pass second.

McGuire, the RB, is an absolute stud.

And the passing game isn't prolific, but it's usually better than what you saw on Saturday.

Thanks for the compliment. Our team was very competitive in every game except against Navy. We are all proud of how they ended the year on a 3 game win streak and it sucks they didn't get a bowl invite (I realize 6-6 in the SBC isn't going to turn many heads).

They already had won the conference. You think they were trying to win?

It is silly to think they weren't trying to win.

Broadway being out probably hurt too.

Depends on who they hire. The perception of the Sun Belt is changing and upcoming coaches are seeing it as a stepping stone conference. If we make the right hire, we can sustain it by recruiting leftovers in Louisiana and the surrounding areas, like Hud has done. If we make a stupid hire, which is highly likely, then we go back to sucking.

My team? Not. I am indifferent to Sunbelt football.

Congrats on the real victory!

Don't be mad at the Cajuns because they didn't care about playing your team.

They will.

Jay Johnson should be their first choice, but he won't. I have zero faith in the Athletic Dept., but maybe they'll prove me wrong.

It got Harsin a job at a school that he previously coached at. Most people expect the same with Hud and Mississippi State, no one expects him to get the Texas job.

BTW, how funny is it that diat shows up in any thread mentioning Lafayette?

I enjoy a good UL/USL/ULL/UL-Lafayette thread. But this dude seriously hates Lafayette for whatever reason...

He was a candidate in the opening at Arizona before RichRod(was previously hired at Mississippi State by Zona AD Greg Byrne prior to the hiring of Mullen when he interviewed so well). He was also a serious candidate at Ole Miss -- where he interviewed and had an active negotiation onging before removing his name from consideration due to "conflicts of interest" related to his ties to MSU. I'm glad his name isn't tied to a bunch of jobs -- because quite frankly, if he interviews, it's a pretty good chance that teams are going to want him afterwards.

Not sure that he ends up at MSU(he allegedly dislikes the current AD) -- but I was certainly OK with seeing them falter down the stretch(really the last 5-6 games sucked after they peaked against Petrino and Harsin) and probably lose some luster for now, hopefully keeping him at ULL for another year...

Had he stayed on the roll he was on after the Arky St and Western Ky games -- and MSU had managed to lose either the Egg or the Arky game -- we would have a significant faction of the fanbase wanting him hired right now(including myself). Things have really worked out about as well for us as they possibly could for MSU in the last few weeks...

ULLaf foiks can stop fretting. Hudspeth is not going anywhere. He was a few plays from being a .500 team In the Belt. He will not get serious consideration until he gets a win against a greater than Belt or MAC caliber opponent.

I love that diat maintains that Opelousas is a superior city to Lafayette.

Regardless of how you feel about UL/ULL/etc that is just foolish....I mean a blind deaf person could go to Lafayette and Opelousas and tell you they can't wait to get back to Lafayette.

Opelousas is well on its way to becoming the biggest shithole west of Hammond.
