I will add this though. If we finish this years class like we should and continue to go 9-3, then we have a problem. This class is built for a championship or at worst a BCS bowl game.

Les gets all those players to come to LSU brah. We had an undefeated regular season recently and are an elite team every year. THERE IS ONLY ONE NICK SABAN. GET OVER IT.
Then he forgot he still had to coach in the championship game

Agreed. I went to school during the DiNardo era. And sadly, it appeared to be progress.

Authoritarian leadership vs Authoritative leadership
It's the difference between being very good and dominating. We have been near identical with Alabama in every facet of the game except in one category.

IF you haven't noticed, we play teams that have 8-10 people leave for the draft.
Our talent is good, but we have this imaginary talent gap between us and other elite teams, that really isn't there.
Throw in there that we play in a competitive league where shite happens, this is the season you get sometimes.

He did shite the bed in the championship game, but what LSU did that year was nothing short of amazing. Beating a team like Bama twice was a very tall order.

Agree 100% with the OP. This is the LSU of new, 10-2 don't cut it anymore. Sorry, go be mediocre somewhere else.
LSU has only been better than 10-2 3 times since 2000.
The program has only had 3 good years?

What is the factor
Um perhaps the other 12 teams we play each year? Gumps are the only team that has ruled the last 3 years and now you see they will be watching the chip as well. Isn't it past your bedtime jr?

Team reflects the personality of its head coach
Miles is a great guy and a good coach but he doesnt have a killer instinct

Saban at LSU was better than 10-2 only once: 2003
Miles at LSU has been better than 10-2 more consistently:
2005: 11-2
2006: 11-2
2007: 12-2
2010: 11-2
2011: 13-1
Saban has improved as a coach since arriving at Alabama but to hold up LSU to his rate of success in a negative light is a little myopic when they have had more success than any other team as well. Florida, UGA, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas, OU, USCw, tOSU, FSU, Miami etc all suffer by comparison as well... and none of them are close to .500 against Saban in regular season results

Just cannot get all factors together at once.2005 Katrina; 2006, four top tens on the road 2008, 09, 10,11 no quarterback, 2012 new quarterback, 2013 no defense......If you want to blame Miles hit him for not recruiting and developing a quarterback!

It's recruiting. Not enough emphasis placed on getting the big uglies in the trenches. It's been a wekness for LSU for a long time. Look at the bama game. We came out on fire well prepared with a great game plan but just got beat down as the game progressed. MIles recruiting doesn't match his philosophy. He wants to beat down the opponent and establish dominance with the run game but doesn't recruit the guys in the trenches to do it with. Need to change to a more open offense to match our personnel.

You are a troll!
NO LSU fan fricks up who coached LSU in 2003 or 2007.
That or you are just a fricking idiot.

We lack attention to detail and we do not play to win every play.
Case in point: go look at CLMs presser after the Arkansas game. It was like he was pleased with effort.
It's that attitude that will always hold us back from being a dynasty like Bama.

Sorry, my saying 3 was regular seasons. 3 regular seasons since 2000 better than 10-2. LSU has won the SEC more often than they've been better than 10-2 in the regular season.

I must be misunderstanding you because that reads wrong to me.
LSU SEC Championships since 2000:
2001 (3 regular season losses)
2003 (1 regular season loss)
2007 (2 regular season losses)
2011 (0 regular season losses)
Seasons better than 10-2 since 2000:
2003: 13-1
2005: 11-2
2006: 11-2
2007: 12-2
2010: 11-2

We don't have the type guys in the trenches to have a 'killer instinct' type team. He tries to keep pushing that smash mouth 'killer instinct' type philosophy but with out the personell to do it with. Need to get away from that and go more with a team that establishes the passing game in order to open up the run game instead of the other way around. JUst might happen with Jennings though hopefully. He's the type QB that doesn't need a good pocket to pass from and will be hard to contain. Won't have to smash it up the middle with him at QB.

it's not attitude, it's personel. We just don't match up with them, but that could change
